DO NOT INSTALL THIS AS THE PICTURE SHOWS. The steel plate needs to be mounted on the top of the hitch and the U bolt needs to be mounted up from the bottom. This forces the hitch to be pressed down in the receiver and the receiver holds the tongue weight. If you mount it as the picture shows with the plate on the bottom it forces the hitch up and puts the full tongue weight on the U bolt and it will fail.

I used it once. It worked well and took all of the slop out of the receiver. Then, when I was done I tried to remove it. The threads had galled up so badly that I couldn't remove the nut. It wouldn't budge. I finally had to just torque it until I snapped the bolt. So, the concept is sound and works well, BUT the u-bolt and nuts are total garbage. They are made of a very soft stainless that is not automotive grade. I will have to go to the hardware store and find some better bolts and nuts. I recommend finding a different brand that includes better hardware.

The thing works great if you can keep it tight, drove a 150 miles and it was so loose it was not working. Tried lock nuts and it still comes loose, need some ideas because when it is tight it works great. Don’t buy and if you did the company should refund your money because no matter what you do it will not stay tight.

Had a hitch tightener that fit over the main hitch collar and the bar that used several small adjustable set screws along each side. Was always a pain to put on and adjust and never stayed in place. Then I got this, and what a world of difference. Very easy to put on, takes seconds, and best of all, stays in place and stays tight no matter how far you go or how long you leave it on. Zero hitch banging! I would buy it again in a heart beat.

I have a receiver hitch, motorcycle carrier and there has always been some movement. As a result, there has been minor damage (enlarging of the pin holes) that will continue to get worse and the wobble in the carrier will get worse.On first use of this tightening device I was sold. My motorcycle no longer rocked back and forth in the receiver and things felt more secure. Great purchase.

These are very good stabilizers. I've used them before so when I needed another one I ordered the same thing. Only one problem. The second order arrived without the nuts, washers, and lock-washers and the product is useless without them. Now, my project is delayed for four days waiting for the replacement and I still need to order one more.

Install is easy, but not convenient if you switch attachments often. I only use it if I plan to keep something on for a while. It makes my cargo rack solid as a rock on my Jeep, but still moves on my wife's CR-V and I can't figure out why. Still worth the money. I bought this one in particular because of the rubber coating on the U-bolt.
