An excellent reference source for anyone interested in healing body, mind and spirit.
When it comes to the subjects of body, mind and spirit we are all seeking a healthy and productive life. There is numerous books published dealing with the enormous field of healing the body. I recently purchased an amazing book (205 page soft cover Healers on healing edited by Richard Carlson, Ph.D. and Benjamin Shield) on Amazon for a bargain price. Even though this book was published in 1989 it is filled with a wealth of practical tips and great ideas from some of the world’s experts in the healing field. They write about their personal experiences and stories about their patient’s recovery from a host of different physical and psychological issues. This very informative book is organized into eight parts with 37 enlightening essays all written by healing experts in their fields. The eight parts include the following: Love is the healer, returning to wholeness, the healer within, the healing relationship, the role of the healer, the healing attitude, consciousness and the healing response, and healing as our birthright. This is the kind of book that is a keeper because it is like a reference source for anyone seeking information on the many aspects of healing the body, mind and spirit.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi, Qigong, and Yoga stretching for seniors the physically challenged).

Mostly white writers
While I enjoyed some of the essays, my main critique with this book is that two white dudes surveyed all the world to gain insights into healing, and delivered a book that features maybe 2 or 3 non-white authors. That’s a huge gap, a huge miss. Even the articles written about indigenous spiritual frameworks for healing are written mostly by white people with Western (and American) backgrounds. That was disappointing.

Healing words and blessings of comfort
I purchased this book for a dear friend. I have my own copy living on my bookshelf for years now. Purchased during a time when I was seeking the guidance that is filled in these pages. This is one of those books that you can reach for again and again for the comfort and healing it brings. I am familiar with so many of the contributing writers; I look to their guidance as an answer to a prayer.I was so glad to find it here on Amazon as I purchased my first copy, years ago, at a little shop on the Hamakua Coast, on the Big Island, in Hawaii. This book is a blessing, a joy to read at whatever page you open up to; filled with gems for everyone, in every stage of life.

Chicken soup for healers
Let me first say that this book is a collection of 37 essays. Its very similar to the chicken soup books. Each part or "chapter" has a theme ie: love, wholeness, attitude, etc. I tried to read this book from start to finish but I found that picking and choosing a topic may be a better way to go about reading this one... Its a good book to put in the bathroom. The essays are pretty short, usually no longer than 3-7 pages.pros:lots of essays to choose fromgood for nurses/drs/people in medical field, spiritual healers, those in need of healing, and those who may need to be inspired.different viewpoints: essays written by dr.s, nurses, metaphysical healers, and shamans.short essays allow for sporadic reading.. say while waiting at the dr.s office, for an oil change, killing time between classes or appointments, break times, etcgreat information.cons:some essays are dull/boring and seem to say the same thing 20 different ways..not a good read if planning on reading straight throughSome essays are very "doomy and gloomy" (emphasizing the need for healing of the earth and its people... or else.)Could have had less of an overarching theme for each chapter.. I think the same viewpoint was expressed in different ways by each author.. (this is why reading straight through is boring)

Preparing me for surgery
This book was a suggested reading for me to help me through the fear of an impending surgery. Showed me a different and healthier way to look at injury, disease, and healing. Keeping positive, and how that effects the immune system which helps in healing. Half way through the book I was able to make the call to schedule the surgery. A much needed read to get yourself in the healthly state of mind during a fearful time.

Great book for Healers/ Medical Staff
As I read the different stories in this book. They were all talking about how the healing power of words can effect people. I enjoy reading this book because it came from medical healers. What they had to do to get the patients work with them to heal them. Very powerful moving book.

Fantastic read for anyone interested in the insights of many ...
Fantastic read for anyone interested in the insights of many gifted practitioners. In essence, the element of love is the overriding commonality in the best of these essays. Have purchased several and given them as gifts.

Not what I had hoped it would be
Not what I had hoped it would be but good information on what people that have been used in "healing" have said and believe about the subject.

I love this book
I love this book.It reflects the true nature of healing. It is not about any specific technique, rather it focuses on the essence of healing. This book would greatly help practitioners across all areas and should be part of the syllabus for people practising medicine.

Wunder-voll
In wunderbar einfühlsamer Weise geschrieben. Die Texte dieses Buches sind eine große Bereicherung und man spürt förmlich die Liebe durch sie hindurch, die alle zu Wort kommenden als essentiell für Heilung ansehen.
