Holy Stone HS170G Night Elven Mini RC Quadcopter Drone with Altitude Hold Function, Headless Mode, 3D Flips, One Key Engine Start Emergency Stop

The media could not be loaded. HelloI just took delivery of my HS170G. I also have 2 HS150 Bolt Bees. Love em, very durable VERY FAST!!!This HS170G has some very welcome improvements. Regular losi micro style battery connectors so batteries will be easy to fit and find.Also, the prop guards mounting with screws rather than clips make it much more durable when the inevitable crash occurs. No more broken prop guards 👍🏻👍🏻Styling is fantastic, looks sinister and menacing😈. LED lights have been upgraded as well. Bright cool white in front and reds in the rear.Instruction manual is well written (entire manual is in ENGLISH) and easy to understand all the very important things to learn and acclimate yourself with when beginning to pilot a quad for your first time. Even some more experienced pilots will find the manual informative and easy to understand with little contradiction to what you have already come to know.This little flyer has ALOT of potential!! The controller works well and may be great for a beginner as it has the ‘altitude hold’ function active out of box. I however am a bit more experienced and prefer the traditional mode 2 setup with a variable potentiometer gimbal for roll and throttle. This radio has a centering gimbal (roll and throttle) that allows the quad to fly more stable, assumingely for your beginner drone pilots. (Think xbox one controller) It was definitely fun and flyable but again just prefer the standard mode 2 (variable potentiometer gimbal) layout.It can be fast and formidable or slow and docile so all in all its a FANTASTIC flyer for the money especially if you may be considering your first quad purchase. Definitely indoor friendly for all you with cabin fever stuck inside due to weather restrictions.Holy Stone has some if the funnest, fastest and best bang for your buck quad copter kits on the market. HS170G Night Elven is no different.****UPDATE****The night elven is so FANTASTIC i want another one just because of how great a job was done on the design, engineering and overall just ease of use and fun factor. Its super fast and super stable!! Cant even say that for alot of more expensive quads. Its a great quad for me to teach my 3 year old on because of the Alt hold ability, and she JUST LOVES pressing the start button and launching it. It gives us the best dad daughter time inside when outside flying in the northeast right now is well, for the birds. (Pun intended).

The media could not be loaded. Just purchased Holy Stone’s HS 170G “Night Elven” drone. This is my fourth drone, and I was looking for something affordable that was smaller but still stable, had decent ‘hang time’, and was potentially good for indoor flying. Overall, this drone does well in all three of these.Drone is packaged well and arrived in good shape. The instruction manual is clear, and even contains some good tips for the beginner drone pilot.First flight out of the box, drone flew well, and trimmed up quickly. I really like the trim logic (you hold the ‘Speed’ button while trimming with the right control stick). Drone holds altitude nicely, even during forward/backward flight. CAUTION: propellers are color coded for front and back, but there are two kinds of propellers (reference direction of pitch) in each color labelled A and B. Make sure you have the A props on opposite corners, same for the B props, or drone will not fly correctly!I really love the ‘Headless’ mode. In headless mode, you don’t have to worry about which way the drone is pointed; it acts like it is always pointed away from you, even if it is 180 degrees out. I also liked the ‘Flip’ button; kind of a ‘gee wiz’ thing, but works as advertised.Pros-Stable (my son flew it easily first time w/no experience), decent flight time on a single charge (am getting about 8 minutes a flight as advertised), love the headless mode. Three speed modes allow you to get more aggressive, although I find myself putting around in the lowest speed mode.Cons-None from my criteria; you get what you pay for, and at this price point it’s a feature-rich unit.I’d buy this drone again!

The media could not be loaded. I bought this to replace my HS170 Predator that dies recently. This is supposed to be an upgrade. Well not for me, more like a downgrade. It is great for beginners as it's nice and stable. But for me I started on the Predator and it is a more responsive drone that I can fly more wildly. For the G model in order to do a flip you have to bring it to a stop and hit the flip button. Then push to right stick to get it moving again and then it hesitates. Plus the flip button doesn't come out under the tip of my index finger like on a couple of other drone transmitters I have. And this drone has just plain fallen out of the air for no reason. The motors just quit (and I didn't hit the emergency stop button either) and it just fell. It did that a few times. Just watch at the end of my video. Also you can't shut the lights off like on the Predator too. But this is an easy, stable flying drone for someone who has never flown a drone before. So anyway, I returned this one to Amazon and I'm going to get the HS170 Predator again.
