When the stove arrived I realised that this was one of my better mistakes. The whole set is very well made ...
Well I ordered this cook set accidentally when browsing using a small screen tablet. I thought I'd scrolled down when in fact I had hit 'one click purchase'. When the stove arrived I realised that this was one of my better mistakes. The whole set is very well made and comes in a mesh carry bag. I've had the opportunity to have a play with it. It took 5 minutes to boil cold water (ambient temp. 20C) I dare say the time will increase as the temperature drops. I used 1/2 an 'army' issue hexi block from the rat packs rather than the esbit own brand. I also experimented with a tea light candle. After about an hour it brought the water temperature up to approx 60C. This does however radiate warmth and could be used in this way as an emergency heater in a small tent (don't forget the ventilation) but if I was freezing I think I would take the chance. It also works with a alcohol burner or trangia burner. With the larger burner you have to raise the pot above the base or the flame goes out. I used 3 bulldog clips on the top edge and [placed the cup on them. The flame 'licks' around the cup so watch out for the rubber covered handles!!! With the alcohol burner it's just as quick as my trangia to boil water.I will be using this as my only source of cooking for solo outings due to it's lightweight, durability & versatility. I would take a bigger cooker if 2 or more people were relying on you for hot drinks and food.In summing up I am extremely happy with my accidental purchase and would recommend it whole heartedly.

Dear little stove. So pleasing!
The stove part of this set comes in its own little net bag and tucks neatly inside the cookpot, which also has its own net bag — and the net bags are soft and nicely made, not crunchy tat. So the whole thing packs up nicely into your camping gear. The cookpot has pressed into the side of it measuring levels for 200, 300, and 400ml — so you can read them on the inside of the pot. The handles of the cookpot have a protective sleeve to stop scratches and so you don''t burn yourself when it's hot. I've only just unpacked it and not had a go with it yet, but there's no earthly reason why it shouldn't work as it's a very simple and straightforward design. I thought it would be useful but hadn't expected it to be such a nifty and pleasing, well made little kit. I'm absolutely delighted with it.

Lightweight and the pot can be used with a gas stove as well
I bought this for a trip to the Highlands, but ended up using just the pot and buying a small gas stove to go with it. In my tests, solid fuel was not as efficient as gas per weight, and while it might be better in some situations, for me, has won. However, I do like the pot in this kit as it is lightweight and easy to use, so it wasn't a waste of money.

Compact and lightweight
Great for weight and compactness however had to manufacture fire dragon gel holder as esbit tablets are expensive via amazon and toxic .

Esbit Solo Cook Set
Excellent cookset. About the smallest I've ever seen, and very cheap compared to similar 'micro' cooksets, which are typically made of titanium, meaning they cost a bomb. This kit is made from aluminium, so it's still pretty light. There's plently of room inside for a few days' worth of hexamine tablets and a lighter, and I've easily got a folding spork and folding plastic cup (Helikon Swedish Army Folding Cup) in the top of the bag.The first time you cook some thing in it, you may find a fairly acrid smell being given off (it actually made me feel slightly queasy), but after a couple of uses, this smell no longer occurs. So suggest you break it in before you go camping with it.Pot looks tiny (585ml), but more than big enough to hold a standard tin of food (400ml).Would recommend keeping the pot stand inside a plastic bag when it's packed inside the pot, to avoid transfer of hexamine residue to the inside of the pot.

Great little cookset
I bought this cookset as I wanted a small cooker with a pot and lid that would fit into my Snugpak Response pack as my Crusader cookset wouldn't fit. It's relatively lightweight for the size and will boil enough water for two standard brews. It's not the fastest at boiling water using fuel tablets (around 8-12 minutes outdoors for a full pot) but I have found that the base could be modded to take a spirit burner which would increase its efficiency greatly.Overall I think for the size and weight & price this is probably one of the best cooksets out there at the moment.

Kocht wasser in 11min

Great Backpacking Stove and Stainless Steel Pot
Quality made product. I bought this stainless steel pot with lid and aluminum stove combination for backpacking. It is compact and lightweight. The stove/stand/windscreen is designed for the Esbit solid fuel tabs and when not in use it stores inside the stainless steel pot. The bottom of the pot has a recessed ring around the outer edge so that it securely nestles into the mouth of the stove when in use. Two mesh stuff sacks are included. I do not like to use alcohol stoves and have been using the Esbit folding pocket stove for many years. I switched to this pot and stove combo. I saw the anodized aluminum version of this item and I waited until the stainless steel model became available.
