Excellent look has worked so far so good. I do not care for the cylinder shape look that pretty much all of these types of LED flame light bulbs have. If you have a light fixture where you cannot see the bulb then you are golden, however, if you have a light fixture with clear glass it looks rather manufactured and fake. I unfortunately have 2 clear glass exterior light fixtures that I wanted to use these in. The trick I discovered in getting a more natural flame look is to cover the clear glass on the inside of the fixture (outside is okay to do too but has no protection from rain) with regular computer printer paper. Simply taping the paper to the inside or outside of the light fixture holds the paper in place. The flame effect then radiates through the paper and it looks many times better. I am going to leave the paper in the fixtures for my smart LED bulbs for Christmas. When Christmas is over I am going to remove the paper cut outs that were used to cover the clear glass and have them laminated for the same use next year.

Appearance Hudson Lighting rates the bulbs at 200 lumens (equivalent to 13 watts incandescent) which is in line with my observations. They are great for mood lighting, but I would recommend something brighter for activities like reading. The bulbs give a pleasant and realistic flicker. If your light fixture has no or minimal frosting, the flickering is more pronounced like a wood flame. Heavier frosting mutes the flickers causing a more candle-like appearance. I installed my bulbs in a torch lamp with open top globes which also creates a pleasant flicker on the ceiling. I have attached a video showing three frosting levels on my lamp (bottom to top): just the globe frosting, the globe frosting plus one sheet of copy paper inside the globe, and the globe frosting plus two sheets of copy paper inside the globe. I feel safe doing this because the bulbs do not get hot. (I printed clipart on the copy paper for fun.) Safety In a 73-degree Fahrenheit room in the torch-style lamp, the hottest part of the bulb reached 117 degrees after 90 minutes. The bulb quickly cooled to 96 degrees when held for 15 seconds. I tried the same experiment with a completely enclosed globe with zero ventilation. After 90 minutes the hottest part of the bulb was 119 and cooled to 98 degrees after being held for 15 seconds. It takes about a 5-minute exposure to 120 degrees to receive a first-degree burn, so I doubt these bulbs could ever cause a burn. I used a non-contact infrared thermometer to measure all temperatures. Energy Efficiency and Cost LED bulbs generally have a Luminous Efficacy (Lumens/Watts) of 30-90. These bulbs are middle of the road at 67 (200 lumens/3 watts). Operating a bulb 24/7/365 would use 26.28 kWh/year costing $3.34/year at the current national average price of $0.127/kWh. Only Issue I ordered three boxes of two for six bulbs in total. I noticed two of the six bulbs took about a half second longer to come on. I only notice this if I am staring directly at the lamp when I turn it on. I emailed Hudson Lighting asking if they were defective. Tim at Hudson Lighting responded saying the slight delay in coming on was just a variance in manufacturing. Tim added Hudson Bay covered the bulbs for up to two years. I was quite pleased with the response, but it was nothing compared to the response time. I emailed at 7:23 PM EDT on Saturday and received a response in 3 hours and 7 minutes. I did not expect a weekend response, especially such a quick one, from a lighting company.

They create a nice atmosphere at night. I put one in a metal desk lamp who's primary function seemed to be to suck the chill out of any room it is in. The flickering is calming. The lamp looks like it resents the bulb when it's off. The bulb fits fine and performs well in a standard lamp. I put this more down to the lamp's designer having some unresolved issues to work through. It has become a ritual after a stressful day to pour a glass of wine, curl up with a good book while the bulb casts a soft glow over the room. It's not enough light to read by - you'll want a book light or a Kindle. But it is just enough to help me escape into a good story - like a pillow fort for grown ups but without the cleanup.

I tried out a few different flame LED lights and this one has been the best so far. The tilt sensor is good for knowing orientation - worked perfectly for me. The flame effect is the most realistic looking yet. If you scrutinize it closely you can figure out the pattern is runs, but to the casual observer it does look relatively flame-like. Definitely better than the other flam bulbs I tried. I like how this one doesn't have "modes" like some other models do. You know that each time you turn it off/on it will do the flame effect. With the other models turning it off/on changes modes so every time your light turns on it'll change from flame to solid to pulse - annoying if all you want is the flame effect. The constructions feels solid enough. It's a recent purchase so I can't speak to longevity yet but I feel like I could trust it to last at least a year or more. Consider the size. These things are a little long. You should check dimensions before assuming it'll fit inside whatever you want to put it in. I wanted mine to automatically turn on, so I also bought daylight/photocell detector sockets to go with them. Note that doing this will further extend the height (largest dimension) of the total bulb assembly. Functionally this has been working great for me. Just make sure your assembly will fit the way you intend it to.

did not work, horribly cheaply made, got stuck in my fitting. NOTHING like the photos as it is all white plastic so no way if it had worked you could see flames. Terrible. RETURNED

Me gustaron mucho, y sobretodo que NO tienen esos 4 modos (ridiculos) que tienen la mayoria de flame bulbs. Se me hace una tonteria eso de los 4 modos, y que se intercambie de modos prendiendo y apagando el foco... Estos me encantaron estos, prácticos y solamente es ponerlo hacia arriba o hacia abajo y el movimiento de la flama se ajusta. Me gustaria que como otros focos tuvieran la opcion de base negra en vez de blanca, daria un mejor efecto creo.

nous les utilisons depuis plusieurs mois maintenant fonctionne toujours bien donne une belle ambiance dans une pièce j'achèterais à nouveau sans hésitations.

Me gustaron como lucen, el color es agradable, sin embargo a pesar de que muchas opiniones dicen que parecen una flama de verdad, en realidad no, hasta parece un foco que está fallando. Pero se ven bien, tienen buen aspecto y espero que tengan buena durabilidad. Quizás en otro tipo de lámpara puedan parecer más realistas.
