Fixed my blender right up, easy to install.

For the second time, I needed to replace the drive coupler on our KitchenAid blender. When I did it years ago, the only method I could find online was the screwdriver/brute force method. This time I searched Amazon and found this little kit with one coupler and a flat spanner wrench. The wrench holds the threaded spindle while the coupler is then unscrewed and replaced. IMPORTANT - the coupler is reverse threaded, so it unscrews in the opposite direction. I had trouble removing the old coupler with my hand, as it was tight and the rubber was coming off on my hand. So I retrieved a pair of channel-locks from the garage and easily removed the coupler and screwed on the new one. Took about two minutes. As everyone knows, the coupler design on these blenders is terrible. However, with this little spanner wrench, replacement of the coupler just got a lot easier. I don't know how long the coupler will last as the rubber is soft so that it will grab to the spinner blades assembly. I don't know why the part could not be made of something more durable. I'll probably order a multi-pack of the couplers to keep on hand. I don't understand the negative reviews for this product. People are saying the spanner wrench bent and was unusable. Maybe they didn't understand the part about reverse threading? Maybe they had the wrong blender?

This was an easy fix for my nice Kitchen-Aid blender that had the coupler break, probably due to age or the dry weather we have. The installation was fast and the blender is like new. :-)

Replaced my drive coupler which had turned into a rubbery goo with this item. Quality appears to be good. The fit to the bender teeth is solid with no noticeable slop in movement. Our blender is an older model where the casting on top as 4 metal ears surrounding the coupler. The wrench did not fit between these metal “ears” which made it impossible to engage the shaft / spindle assembly to lock it from rotating while attempting to remove the coupler. I modified the wrench cutting metal away on each side allowing it to slide into place to lock the spindle. At that point it was straight forward in removing the old and screwing down the new coupler. Recommend mfg narrow the width of the tool which would then work for older and newer blenders without modification This is the reason for my 4 star rating vs 5. I don’t have enough use to comment on durability, but feel it should last a reasonable amount of time before replacement is needed again. Cost was very reasonable.

ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) plastic is superior to the natural rubber used in the original, especially for heat resistance and ozone degradation. This should be a great "durable" replacement as the OEM versions all disintegrate in a short time. A competitor of theirs tries to bash them stating theirs is better because theirs is rubber and not "cheap" plastic. Well as a plastics and rubber expert, I can tell you I'll take the ABS version every time! Also of note, my unit is the KSB3 WH3 model (not listed) and the OEM part for it was 9703274. According to Ai, it was not supposed to be compatible with this 9704230. Just another case of Ai being far from accurate - Glad I took the chance!!!

Perfect replacement for the coupler that had failed. Was not able to use the supplied wrench to install, but found a work-around on YouTube. My blender is back.

Easy-Peasy. Repair took 5 minutes Coupler fit perfectly and our kitchenaid blender is working again. Do watch the YouTube video on replacing the coupler. The coupler is left hand threaded (turn CLOCKWISE to loosen) It will show how to use the tool

These things break when you least expect them to. Have a spare on hand.

This coupling was an exact fit to replace the original on my KitchenAid blender. Easily changed using the wrench supplied with the coupling and the delivery was quick!
