I Strongly, Strongly Recommend This Scuttle Bowl
At 80 years old I decided to try using a brush, bowl and all that stuff. So, I went crazy and bought several kinds of soaps and creams and post-shaving balms! I found mention of "scuttle bowls" in YouTube clips on shaving with soaps, and decided to buy one. This one looked like the one used in one of the YouTube clips, so I bought it. The directions say to fill the scuttle bowl up with water and microwave it for 3 minutes. Not a great idea!! I did that and carried it by the handle into the bathroom, and got some cream on the brush and grabbed the bowl by the handle to whip up a lather, and almost dropped the whole thing. It was HOT! You're saying, "Duh, you had scalding water in it, so what did you expect?" You're right, but it didn't cross my mind. After whipping up a lather in the bowl I applied it to my face and found that the hot water in the double hull really heats the brush and the lather to a degree that's just on the edge of uncomfortable. So, here's my recommendation. Buy this scuttle bowl as it will keep your lather hot and you can whip up a nice lather in it from cream. But, don't follow the directions about that 3 minute stuff. Try a lot less than that, unless you enjoy really HOT lather, and don't try to pick it up by the handle after sitting for a few minutes if you do the 3 minute nuke. The heat transfers very well to the handle. Other than using some common sense to use it, this is a great product and I thoroughly recommend it and will use it, but with cooler water. Wuss that I am!Hey!This entry is later. This morning when I shaved, I used the hottest hot water I could get out of the tap to fill my scuttle bowl with. It was heaven. The lather was hot, but not uncomfortably so, and stayed hot in the scuttle, as did my brush. It was really wonderful. Even without the "lava" water from the first time, I was able to whip up a really great lather with my brush. I was able to whip up a much richer, thicker lather using the scuttle than I ever was able to using a stainless steel bowl. I double down on my recommendation to buy this scuttle bowl. You will love it! I'm thinking of buying another one in case I break this one.Third entry: I forgot I had written a review on this bowl and came back to write it and found my two exuberant entries above. I used the scuttle bowl this morning again and I think the entries above are understated if anything. This is a great little product. On the hot water--I simply run the hot water in my sink until it's too hot to run over my hand. That's when I get the scuttle bowl and fill it up, and put the cork in it. You don't need to waste energy microwaving the bowl. Happy shaving!!

Really Cool!
I really like this scuttle. I use it all the time. I go 3.5 minutes on the micro for that extra hotness. I recommended 100%. I get a pleasant warm shave all around it and get no red spots, bumps, or nicks when shaving. This makes your shaving experience a lot more pleasant and easy.

Helped to make my head shave the ultimate experience
Before a few days ago, I didn't even know what a shaving scuttle was. I saw a video on Instagram where it was being used. I was intrigued. So I purchased this item and received it very quickly. I used it this morning for the first time and it was wonderful. I filled it with about an 8 ounce cup of hot water from my Keurig, added my shave cream to the center of the scuttle and whipped up a nice, warm shaving lather. The scuttle seems to be well made and has a nice weight to it. So glad that I bought it.

Meh...It's fine, works OK
So this is my first scuttle, gave it a good try for several shaves. It works, kept my lather fairly warm, but now it sits in my cabinet. I may try it again next winter if my lather seems too cold. My assessment is that it's well-made, as advertised. I filled it with hot tap water, which didn't do much for my lather at all. Then I tried filling with hot tap water and heating in microwave for about 90 seconds. That was hot! But still, my lather was "warmer" but hardly worth the time and hassle. Also, I found the thing large and bulky. It is double-walled with a water reservoir. The filled scuttle is fairly heavy and I didn't feel like I had a secure grip or control of the thing. Over-all, if you want or have used a scuttle and are looking for one, this seems worth the money. It looks good, arrived promptly, etc. Oh, they promise a cork or stopper for the water reservoir, but mine arrived without one. A small thing, you don't really need a cork, just don't tip or spill the water. I've used an old ceramic bowl (candy dish, maybe?) that belonged to my Grandmother, probably made in the 1920's. It's heavy and if I soak it in hot tap water while I take my shower, I think it does as good a job as this scuttle. Hope that's helpful. Buy one if you want one!

Best hot shave
Absolutely love it I'm able to get a hot shave every morning. Nothing closer or more comfortable than a hot shave. Thank you very much.

Love this item!
I love this item. The only thing that I wish it had was a rubber plug. I have to buy it separately, but otherwise I will never go back nothing like shaving with warm, shaving cream.🪒

Ok
Nice lathering bowl but doesent really heat up that well. I even tried putting it in the microwave and it still didn’t hold the heat long. I’m aware that warm lather changes to skin temperature pretty quick once applied to the face so I wasn’t expecting a miracle product here, but to put it in the microwave for 2 minutes lol have steam coming out the spout when I remove it and for it to be room temp after my first pass and my badger hair brush cold after that is pretty pathetic smh. Should have just sprung for the Conair hot lather machine on eBay(owned one previously) and threw a can of Barbasol in it. Get your self one of those and a decent brush and it beats any of this wet shaving crap for a fraction of the price trust me, don’t even go down that rabbit hole. Use whatever razor you want. Also didn’t come with a cork/plug so water comes splashing out if you’re not careful……may affect the heat too. A very average product that should be in the $9.99 range not $20 smh. Can’t speak about the company but I’m guessing they just probly buy from China and put their name on it. I do not recommend this one
