Wonderful Timex Watch!
I just started wearing this particular watch a few days ago but so far, so good. It's the right size for a female who likes larges watches (like me), but it could also work for a man who like a watch that's a little smaller than the average watches out there for men. I like that it's water resistant as I have to wash my hands frequently at my job, but I still do try my best to remove the watch for handwashing whenever possible. The watch has a nice light that can be turned on as needed (unlike some other cheaper watches that have a light that comes on automatically when you're in a dark room but than stays on until it runs out). I prefer to be in control of the light, so this watch works really well for me. This is my third Timex watch. My two other Timex watches lasted for many years. This watch has a nice wrist strap but a little stiff right now, however I believe it will soften a little with use. Highly recommended, great accuracy as far as time, and I look forward to wearing this watch for many years!

Timex Expedition 36 Scout Watch
This is my every day go to watch. It's one of the best under $50 watches I've bought. It looks great and the face size is easy to read. Excellent durability, quality, and time accuracy.

Not an easy reader
This is a nice and smaller watch except for the hard to read dial and you might to change the strap.

Great watch for the price.
Very pleased with this purchase. This is a fantastic watch for the price. Smart, field-watch styling with its slightly vintage, military look. The red arrow second hand (on this black-faced version of this watch) is a nice design accent. If there's any lume on the hands, I can't see it. What the watch does have is Timex's Indiglo backlight which lights up the whole watch face with a push of the crown. I'd much rather have the indiglo because modern (non-radioactive) watch lume fades faster than the daylight and isn't much use in the middle of the night. The indiglo backlight is truly beautiful and makes the watch very readable in the dark. As others have noted, there's a tiny flat spot at the bottom of the dial. Doesn't detract from the look as far as I'm concerned. Some reviewers have complained about the loud ticking. Other don't seem to notice. Perhaps this is due to differences between individual watches, or perhaps between individual ears. I don't notice the ticking unless the watch is within a foot of my ear and only when there's no other background noise. This may also be a matter of age; anybody above the age of 50 grew up with wall clocks and bedside clockwork alarm clocks so will have little trouble tuning out any minor ticking noise even if their ears can hear it. The watch takes a CR2016 battery which is one of the larger batteries to fit in a watch, giving it a claimed 10-year battery life. This is an important point because it beats having to change out a battery every year or two. Fewer battery changes translates to less cost and less disturbance to the waterproof seal. Over a 10-20 year period, if you're paying at the store to get the battery swapped, a 10-year period is going to save more than the cost of this watch (or even a much more expensive one). If you're the sort of person who does their own battery swaps, the stainless steel back is of the pop off style, with a small tab to get a knife or case toll underneath to prey off the back. It's probably the pop-off back which limits the water resistance to 50m (fine for swimming but not scuba). The watch has a 3-position crown (technically 4 if you include the indiglo function). The middle position allows fast adjustment of date, ie no need to wind the watch through 24 hours to advance the date window. Handy for day after the last day of a 30-day month. The watch has 18mm lug size, so it's easy to find/install replacement straps. Field watches tend to be very versatile and can take on a whole different character depending on the type of strap. Typical of inexpensive watches, as the the second hand ticks it doesn't always align very well with the marks on the circumference of the dial. If this bugs you, you should be looking at the $200 watches. The 36mm case size suits me (and my wrist size) fine. If you've got big wrists or if you like the now-fading fashion for huge watches then you might want to go for the 40mm version that Timex sells. Despite some of the imperfections, this is a 5-star review because I don't expect a $30 watch to have the same standard of materials and manufacturing as a $200 watch. If you're looking for this style of watch, it's hard to go wrong with this one for the price. If you're not using a watch to display wealth and you don't want to worry about loss/theft, this watch looks great and does everything you'd want for the price.

Best daily-wear watch I own
I have over a dozen dress and casual watches and this Timex Expedition Scout is my favorite. My husband has the black case version (much larger than this one) and he loves his too. This is a great size, lightweight, thin, and pretty to look at without being flashy. The Indiglo is nice and strong, as on my other Timex Indiglo's (which I love!). The nylon strap that comes with this watch is beautiful and very well made. It's also easy to change straps. I bought a dozen different colored NATO straps and I swap them out regularly on this watch and the style and design of the watch pairs well with so many different colors and patterns of strap! This is Timex quality, durability, and reliability at a pretty good price. Definitely recommend!

Great Watch if You Downgrade Your Expectations to a Timex
So far, this is an OK watch. It is not an excellent watch but for the price point, it IS an EXCELLENT value. For those with OCD, the seconds hand will drive you nutz as it won't align with the minute markers. The case is brass so I suspect the coating will eventually rub off in spots and the brass will be revealed and start to patina, which you may or may not like. The water rating is lacking, especially since this is being sold as a "field" watch. 50m is basically just splash resistant. Should be at least 100m in my opinion. The strap is lacking in quality. It's already fraying around the hole I use for my size and I've worn it maybe 15 times since I've owned this. I also suspect that when I go to replace the battery, i will be damaging the case and/or the caseback using my watch prying took to remove the caseback. If you don't care do this yourself, based on the cost of the battery replacement service, may simply elected to just replace the entire watch since the service will cost around $20-25 anyway. As always, the Indiglo feature is fantastic... but WILL eat your battery. Overall I am pleased with the watch and its intended purpose as a beater watch.

The watch is louder than I expected. You can hear ticking sound when the room is quiet. I can’t sleep while it is in the room. But on the other hand I absolutely in love with it. The right size and great look. Good for the price. The strap quality is low Overall all give it 10 out of 10. One of the most enjoyable watches I’ve ever worn.
