Far Exceeds Expectations
The Combat Office was purchased to replace a previously worn out backpack of mine that I have been using for college and naturally I wanted to put it through some use before writing any sort of review on this product. This bag easily accommodates everything that I previously stored in my backpack and has room to spare. Under the flap there are four pockets to fit various objects in. Three of which are zipper-close and the larger one has a plastic snap-buckle similar to what you'd find on a typical bicycle helmet. Each of the zippers has a loop of nylon cord with a rubber grip on it. These things are genius because you can really get into them quickly. Behind those there is a larger compartment with two magazine pouches that are capable of holding a full rifle magazine each. Each magazine pouch has its own elastic cord with hook and loop (Velcro) to keep the mags in place. There is also a pouch for a pistol magazine (or highlighters as I have used it) and a much larger pouch that could fit a water bottle or your favorite travel coffee mug. The flap closes with a polycarbonate buckle and the excess cord secures onto itself which was a really nice touch. The concealed carry compartment is barely noticeable and it would have taken me a bit to find it if I didnt already know what I was looking for. The pocket is shaped in such a way that your weapon will stay positioned with the muzzle pointing downward so that the fist thing your hand touches is the grip. This pocket is lined with nylon and will fit a full size 1911 or whatever heat you want to bring with you. For right now this pouch is tasked with holding my cigarettes. It really is easy to get into and the magnetic flaps are near silent. Now on to the main compartment. The combat office holds all of my books, notebooks and folders no sweat. I try to keep this thing as light as possible because I have to carry it around all day but there is a ton of space in there. The top is very easy to get into as it has parallel zippers connected by a loop for speedy access. On the inside it is long enough to fit legal pads and is also lined with a durable nylon fabric. What I found really neat about the Combat Office is that the laptop compartment is positioned in such a way that if you were to drop the bag or just set it down hard, the main compartment is what takes the impact and not your laptop. This design feature eliminates the need for padding. Inside there are two mesh pockets to hold your charger in place and another pocket on the inside of the compartment flap to fit a tablet or more documents. On the outside of the laptop compartment is, you guessed it, ANOTHER compartment that is open at the top but can be secured with hook and loop if so needed. There is a portion on the bottom of this flap that unzips and allows you to slide the Combat Office over the handle of a rolling suitcase. doing this does not disturb whatever you have in the document pocket. The shoulder strap is about as comfortable as you would expect a shoulder strap to be. There is a pad on the strap that has rubber on the bottom to keep it from sliding off of your shoulder whilst you navigate the office battlefield. Overall it is very evident to this lowly Amazon shopper that Eberlestock has put a lot of thought into this product and really knows how to deliver a quality, versatile product to their customers. The Combat office is the first of their products that I have ever received and I am blown away by the quality and attention to detail.

Love it
So far I love the bag. I use to use a MOLLE tactical briefcase that I got on base but it was a bit limited and a bit bulky. This Eberlestock holds more, organizes it better, and is way less bulky. My Inspiron 15 (7548) laptop fits perfectly with room for my notebook and slim DVD holder. The zippers are awesome. Smooth and flawless zip and unzip. I like the zipper pulls too, easy to handle with gloves on.I like that the carry handles are NOT a part of the front flap.I like that the front pouches can be accessed without undoing the carry handles.I like that the laptop can be accessed without undoing the carry handles. The MOLLE panel is very sturdy. The laser cut panels are less forgiving width wise though. Can't jam a strap that is a little to wide in to the slots. The concealed gun pocket is very durable. The closure magnets find each other without any fiddling.I think they could have made the front pouches differently so that they could hold a bit more, but the entire design is around being less bulky, so I can understand the choices they made. Two things I don't like as much:1) I hate is that they used hook-n-loop on the handles. I hate that. I kinda wish they had used the same magnet design that they used on the gun pocket. Oh well.2) The little hook-n-loop tab that supposedly holds the top-end-tab for the middle section rarely stays fastened. The main zipper holds it all shut, so it's not a huge deal, but a magnet on that little tab would have been waaay better.

It is perfect for everyday use
I was so impressed with this bag after I purchased and used it for myself, I bought another for my partner. It might be called a combat briefcase but it is suited for all types of uses. I am a trial attorney and this bag is thoughtfully designed and well made. It is perfect for everyday use, particularly during hostile New England winters. It keeps a laptop or iPad safe and secure, has plenty of space for files, organizes the sort of supplies you need with you on the road, and holds up better than any other bag I've used. It looks a bit "tactical" but not so much that it causes me any concern to use it the way I use it.

Best Daily Cary Bag Ever
Built like a tank (light years better than my previous made in china Maxpedition pack) Carries all my office gear without issue as well as everything else that needs to go with me everyday. Great piece of gear!

Tough, well organized, and convenient
Solid construction, great zippers and solid organizational pockets. This is a great little bag. I took off a star because the strap is a bit in the way of the top flap closing, and I have had the strap clips get hooked on fabric and slide off the rings while being picked up.That said, it is light, tough, well organized and easy to open and close. The secret pocket is cool. Although I don't use it for anything secret, it does make for a securely closing, but easily accessed pocket which can be great for airport security simply to have a quick place to store a wallet or watch, etc. while going through the scanner.
