I would have never wondered or thought of 'Where did Cinderellas Fairy Godmother come from'? If you are a Disney fan.....do NOT miss this new tale of one of the most beloved characters in Walt Disneys cabinet of Wonder!Go back to the first time that you ever saw the original childhood classic Walt Disney movie "Cinderella" and remember that amazement as a kid and thinking to yourself.... I would love to have my own fairy Godmother! C'mon, we all know that we did as a kid. Well, Jen Calonita who has also written in the Disney's Twisted Tale books, (and one of my favorite authors in those books too!) takes the tale of Cinderella way back to a time when Renee Dubois learns about who she really is and who she is meant to be in her time on earth......as a human.This book was SO well written that it made me actually think that what I was reading was not just for a young adult, but was for anyone who loved that fairy tales from a time when nothing else mattered.Renee Dubois grew up knowing that she was an orphan....a child without her parents. She was raised by her Uncle and his wife and she is a caretaker for their children. During an accident that involves them all she is helped and saved by 'the Fae' or the Fairies as we know them, and this binds her to always remember that they are real, and that there is 'Magic everywhere....you just need to believe'. As the children grow older so does Renee, and she realizes that she still needs to accomplish something in her life; and THIS is that something.I HIGHLY recommed this very 'enchanting and hearwarming' tale of who we all grew up to love and to know as Fairy Godmother! I LOVED this book.....it even made me tear up at the end.5 (and more if I could give it more) Magic Wands waved everywhere!!

No one really gives love to characters who aren’t princesses or villains. This will hopefully be a start in changing that.Why is the Fairy Godmother who she is? Why is she so forgetful? And why those magic words? We’ve finally got an answer as we meet Renee and learn about her place in Cinderella’s story. The world of fairies is something that Renee has always thought about, especially after being led out of a fire that claimed the lives of her parents. As the governess for her young cousins, Renee tries to give them hopes and dreams between poetry, math, and other lessons but it seems her aunt has other plans.Suddenly thrusted into the world of the fairies she’s always believed in, Renee will have to be on her best behavior and learn what it means to be part fairy and master her own brand of magic if it means a chance of seeing her family again.It’s a story that doesn’t talk down to the reader even with the YA branding. Some YA novels can be overly saccharine while others can be too edgy. This one reminds you of the topic which is exploring the Fairy Godmother’s backstory from Cinderella and while this is great for a general audience, there’s some dark moments that are befitting the original movie. There are no soapy excuses for Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella being the way they are (and thankfully so because that’s getting ridiculous). It’s exploring the characterization of the Fairy Godmother and establishing something special just for her to make the Cinderella universe feel more fleshed out. It enriches.Get this. Read this. It’s a casual read, of course and older children will especially adore it. If you’re a Cinderella fan or you have a soft spot for the Fairy Godmother (that would be yours truly) then this is a must have.

This is one of the best stories I have ever read. I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next! Reading this book is a magical journey to the world of fairies!

Such a wonderful and beautiful story for fairy godmother's origin. Such a caring, kind and touching tale. An enchanting tale about loss, grief , a mother's love and loving and kind family relationships. Mixed with fantasy and fairies such a perfect combination. I'll be excited to read the next book once it's up for preorder. A must read for sure.

The beginning of Renee's story wasn't overwhelmingly great to me. A girl obsessed with fairies who almost dies and turns into one. It was her journey, opposition, and love for all that really made this book something special. I cried so much reading this book, feeling the love and care Renee's held for not only her human cousins but the fairies she met as well as her human charges.I never knew I needed the Fairy Godmother's backstory until this book and can't wait to see the next novel is this new series from Disney Publishing.

In this story we get to find out how Cinderella's fairy godmother went from being human to being part fairy 🧚‍♀️. Anyone who loves Cinderella will want to know more about her fairy godmother's life before the magic happened ✨️

It is truly magical! My son and I loved it!

This book was great! I loved how’s the storyline fits right in with the original cartoon and makes things make more sense! Gives you a whole new appreciation for the Fairy Godmother and leaves you wanting to learn more!
