This set is great, and it immediately claimed a place at the top of my list for when I’m looking for a gift for somebody who’s interested in watercolor. I’ve already got one wish listed on one of the international Amazon sites so I am hoping that the intended recipient does not find this review and read it before her next birthday.These paints are pigment rich and in large pans. They activate easily and paint on gorgeously. They are nestled in a velvety surfaced thermal formed plastic tray which keeps them in place but allows easy removal and permits easy cleanup if you happen to slop paint onto the velvet.There is a generous selection of nice brushes in a range of sizes. These are mop style brushes that hold a lot of water and paint but allow you to really control how it flows out. With any of the brushes it’s easy to get broad strokes or fine lines. The brushes come glued with a mucilage for protection, and that just takes a bit of rinsing off. Don’t be alarmed if you see a little tuftiness on the tip of the brush before the first use - that’s just where there’s less mucilage and when you wet down the brush everything will spring back to a nice defined pointy tip.I also really love that this comes with that plastic tray inside of a cardboard box. Both of those parts are well-made and they have the advantage of being somewhat breathable so that if for some reason you don’t fully dry your paints or a brush you don’t have to worry, There is enough airspace in the box to let moisture equalize, and the cardboard means you don’t have to worry about retained dampness and mold risk.I do like easily being able to remove the pans to work with a limited color set. Please ignore the two dog hairs on the green paint pan - my dog always has a way of making himself known in my photos, sorry about that.I think this is THE Set to consider as a gift for beginner or avid water colorists. The color selection, paint quality, paint abundance, nice brushes, and fool proof storage basically ensure success for anyone except for the people who are doing commissions and must have more detailed lightfast information about their pigments.I am so absolutely pleased with this paint set and recommended highly.
