Cut a straight edge
We love this. The size makes it easy to handle and cut with accuracy. Quality is amazing. Very large and readable Great value for money!

Could be better quality markings
The markings on this square are not "deep etched" or "permanent deep markings." While the imperial scale is printed on the square with white lettering, it is obvious that the material was initially stamped for metric measurements. In addition, the impressed scale lines are at different positions from the white markings, making me doubt the accuracy of the measurements. This would be a great straight edge, and has a good hand feel, but I expect more printing and etching quality for the price. I've returned it to spend my money on something with better quality.

Giant speed square! What's not to love?
This speed square is big and much easier to use than a framing square or cabinetry layout tool. It's perfect for cutting rafters and just keeping handy in the shop.

Very nice quality for most general carpentry.
For $17.99 it's not intended to be a machinist's square, but in case it matters to you the angle of the one I received is acute by about 0.020" at 12". Granted that's not much and it's not going to matter if you are marking 2x6s for cutoff, but I sometimes use these (I have another 8" version in a different brand) for pretty precise wood and sheet metal work where that error will accumulate. As long as I know it's there I can deal with it.Otherwise for most users this is a very nice anodized aluminum square for the price. I was put off by the lettering that appeared to be just printed (and I have a bunch of rulers with the printed markings rubbed off), but after careful inspection it appears that the marks are printed over etched lines (maybe laser etched), and the adhesion is excellent.I had been looking for another one of these extruded aluminum square where I bought my original, but they have been replaced with plastic and cast versions that cost almost as much. The cast squares have the markings cast in, and you can imagine how inaccurate those are.Recommended.
