Great for snorkeling
I did a lot of research, trying to find what other people used to keep their gear with them while snorkeling. When I saw the mesh design, I thought it might work well, but there wasn't good information on the size. I have size 10 1/2 water shoes with vibram soles, so they are fairly stiff. They just fit, with a little room left at the end for a couple of small items. I was impressed enough after it arrived, but before using it, that I bought a second one for my wife. They worked well and held up in salt water just fine. Quite happy with them.

Update 13 months after initial review From 2 stars to 4~
The following is my edit, because I am VERY satisfied with this pack, and am ordering another one. It is the BEST shelling bag, the mesh has held up well to a lot of weight, pointy edges of large shells, repeated sun, wind, wave exposure, and being washed numerous times. I don't mind the side opening now, but it did take a little time to get used to it. Now I just put shells in and pull the string, as second nature. I put my keys in the one side opening, and that side HAS become frayed, from the material underneath, from taking the keys in and out, but the netting itself is fine. I use the small pocket on the other side for small shells. It's a great bag- leaves you hands-free to do what you need and want to do.(Original review) The product information is misleading, IF you use this as a fanny pack, the opening is on the side, and it is only a drawstring! I was under the impression it was a zippered fanny pack. While it did not say zippered, the stitching looks as if it is, and who on earth wears a fanny pack, around one's waist, with an opening on the side?!? Yes, there's a cinch, but if the bag is full, simple movement would cause the opening to enlarge. I suppose if one is using it as an over the shoulder sling, obviously with the opening on top, one would be less likely to have items falling out. That being said, it's NOT a fanny pack, it's a shoulder sling with cinch closure. The netting seems very thin, and I have not used it yet, so I don't know how it holds up under water conditions, which is how the 5 star poster was using it and how I intended to use it (shelling at the beach) I was going to return it, but shame on me (who "never" orders anything but Prime!) it will cost me almost $6 to return this $11 item. So, I'm keeping it. And I will use it, but in different ways than usually intended. I will report back if there is anything about this (tears easily, color bleeds, etc) and also, if it surprises me and holds up beautifully!

perfect for watersports
i use this for fins when i kitesurf in more advanced areas where having fins to get a busted rig to shore is crucial. the bag is super light and fits right on the back of my harness. dont even notice its there.

Nice For Snorkel
Great concept and works well for snorkel. It can hold a small dry box. The backing started to come apart after about four uses, but it remains functional still. I'm not sure how much longer it will hold up.

Snorkeling butt-bag!
Do a lot of snorkeling in Hawaii where most of the entries are over rocks and you need some kind of bootie or reef shoe. However, open-heel fins are heavy, cumbersome and almost all are made for scuba and overkill for snorkeling. Hence this bag! I can wear my reef shoes into the water, switch to my fins, stuff the shoes in this mesh bag, turn it around to the small of my back where it won't drag in the water and I'm good! I've got a great pair of lightweight full foot split fins that fit my carry-on and are perfect for snorkeling but I can't tell you, before I found this bag, how many times I banged and cut up my "haole feet" crossing rocks to get to the water. It's true, as one reviewer pointed out, that the mesh bag closes with a toggle but I just tie a slip knot in the cord after closing the bag. I'm guessing this is the only mesh fanny pack on the market. I love it!

It fit my water bottle.
This is a good bag. It's tough, large enough to hold a large water bottle. Has adjustable straps, for hip carry or over the shoulder. Small compartment for small items, you may use many times. Worth buying, if you think you'd use it. Plus it's mesh, so security doesn't have you pull everything out.
