Comfortable fit and waterproof
I am delighted with these boots. I have had three pairs of Merrell Moab shoes which I have valued for comfort and quality as I have a wide foot. This is the first time I have bought boots but needed new walking boots and I am not disappointed. Comfortable and a good fir. They are model 2 whereas model 3 is the current Merrell product. I have shoes in both models and personally think the grip is better on the sole of model 2. Others have stated the boot is not waterproof. This is not my experience I have splashed through puddles and stayed dry though I will treat regularly to maintain this. The boots sits just on my ankle bone. Ideally I'd prefer it to cover my ankle bone - my old boots did so these feel slightly less supporting but not so much that I'd return them. The price is an excellent reduction.

Great shoes!
These shoes are beautiful and comfortable. Lightweight and sturdy, rainproof and breathable, they are equally at home in the countryside and on the high street. P.S.: to identify the right size for you, measure your feet following the size guide instructions: I had to get a pair 1.5 sizes bigger than my usual size. It fits perfectly.

Great boots for me
I've just completed a walk across North Wales, walking about 12 miles a day for 2 weeks. I wanted some lighter weight boots for the journey and these certainly fitted the bill in that respect. They have performed excellently, and with the use of some moleskin (reviewed elsewhere), kept my feet comfortable and blister free each and every day. They felt secure and gripped well in a variety of terrains. I cannot be sure whether they are waterproof, as each day, my feet would feel damp. This may be due to the non breathability of the goretex liner though, rather than moisture penetrating from the outside. In long, wet grass, moisture certainly came in over the top of the boots which is perhaps to be expected...gaiters may help there. Overall, I have been very pleased with them and I just hope I shall get many more miles out of them. As always with walking boots, I bought a half size larger than my usual size to accommodate my feet swelling over the day...the sizing had been perfect for me.

1.5 Years After Purchase
I’ve probably worn these over 500 times in the year and a half I’ve had them. I do a daily walk and most days I wear these boots. Up until a month ago they had been spectacular. So comfortable and tough with it. They are just starting to wear down now. A little water gets in where there is a hole appearing and one of the loops has pulled off where I lace them. Previously, I would have awarded 5 stars, but I would have liked them to last at least a couple of years. I guess 500 odd wears is pretty good going. Sad to have to buy new ones.

Merrell walking boots
I purchased these in January. I had worn them a few times to make sure they were okay on 9 to 12 mile walks. On Friday 20/09 I finished walking the west highland way. I wore these for 7 days on 20/17/15 miles and a bit shorter walks each day 96 miles in total and only two blisters on same foot on last day. I think this was more down to my rushing to finish rather than adjust my sock in the boot!! I have a pair of Merrells walking boots, shoes and have just purchased trail runners (for walking lol) but for lightweight, comfort and fit I think they are amazing.

Not as great as they used to be
The first Merrell boots I'm not impressed with. After my heavily used 4 year old Merrels started wearing out and leaking I decided it was time for a new pair. I picked up one of their cheaper walking shoes for summer and these for the colder wetter months. First 2 days they were fine, but now they rub on my ankle. At first it felt like there was a little stone in the boots or a tiny twig for in the boots but after not finding one and with my ankle beginning to get cut I realised it was the boots themselves. It took a bit of searching but that's actually a join beneath the inside material which is quite spikey, it's hard to feel with your hand, but it's enough that if you go for hour + walks it'll do damage within a few days. I have to wear a plaster if I want to wear these, hardly ideal. Otherwise the boots would be extremely comfortable and the waterproofing seems fine, the design is nice and they are quite light for a boot. Much lighter than my old ones. I have to say though, whilst my other pair of Merrel walking shoes don't have this problem(they're super comfortable), both new pairs don't feel to me like they're as well made as my old ones. I would be surprised if either of these last more than a couple of years. I had a good 4 years out of the old ones and I'm a heavy walker, I walk many miles a day in forests. Quite disappointed.

Excellent boots
Absolutely love my new boots! So glad I went with these after looking for a new pair of walking boots for ages as I'm so fussy. Glad i went with Merrell after having a really comfy pair of trainers from them and I can tell these will also last me years. They are so lightweight and comfortable I hate it when boots are too bulky/heavy. These feel as light as trainers but have the supportiveness of boots. Have already done a few all day hikes in them and they didn't dissapoint or hurt once, just straight away felt comfortable. Im usually a size 6 but went for 6.5 which were perfect. Not only are they great for hiking but they also go really nice with a pair of jeans or just wearing casually if its a rainy day etc I could easily walk around town in these or in the office and not feel out of place.

Don't waste your money
I used these boots for walking the dog across fields - not rugged terrain - and within a few months these boots had split where the foot bends and so let in the water. The fabric upper has also totally separated from the sole. I have probably had about 6 months of use and half of this time had wet feet! In less than a year these boots have totally failed. My husbands Merrell walking boots have done the same thing. Shame, as they are so comfortable, but I would say don't waste your precious money.

Wore for 1st time on 5 mile hike and felt very comfortable even over rocky terrain. Sole grip kept me from slipping. I have plantar fasciitis and some arthritis on my foot, so felt discomfort in the ball of my right foot coming back down the mountain. However, that was likely NOT due ri the shoe.

Tbh, I was hoping this shoe wasn't as good as advertised so I can have an excuse to return because its style is just too shabby. The colors are so dull, and all the color choices look like something my grandparents would prefer. Dull, faded colors. But when I decided to look past the colors and gave this shoe a try, it completely blew my mind. It has everything I'm looking for. Waterproof, comfort, keeps my feet warm in the cold, doesn't slip on trails, ankle part isn't too tall like the other boots, works great in the rain, in Winter, when out on hiking, in the snow, can run in it... It exceeded my expectations and had me falling in love with it despite the awful colors.

Purchased this due to great reviews but unsure if for me. I normally wear size 6 in sandals and 6.5 in Nike’s. Got these in size 6.5. Fit fine, but tried walking around the neighborhood and not really comfortable around the big toes esp when going down the hills keeps hitting the toes despite a little extra room. Glad I haven’t worn them for hiking. Not sure if I should return or try size 7 to have more room on the toes , or size 7 might end being too big?! UPDATE: From 2 stars to 5 stars!!! There’s no Carob (brown) color available but I exchanged to Blush (pinkish) color in size 7. Fits way better and very comfortable. No more issues and did not need to break in....super love...size matters! My only size 7 shoes... so for those who have issues with discomfort around the toes, try sizing up!
