The Jury is still out about these
So I've used these over the years with varying degrees of success. It is important that the soil is kept moist for at least 2 weeks after application. Last year I put these down twice, once with a watering can and once with the miricle grow spreader (honestly the most useless thing ever purchased) Now last year 2024 was so wet, either these were washed through the soil of they simply didn't work. Lawn destroyed with a massive infestation of leather jackets, some of which I'm still finding now (May 2025). However these are the only things available to the home user in ther UK.

It does not work
I followed the instructions, but it has had no effect at all. I am still finding loads of leatherjackets in my grass
