Owner Of A Dubious Mix
A very solid 12" compilation with a lot, sadly, of the usual suspects that tend to appear time after time. (Gold, The Reflex, Sun Always Shines on T.V., Don't You (Forget About Me). There's a few additions that certainly make their addition worthwhile. Shep Pettibone's timeless mix of True Faith is the absolute definition of this. PSB's It's A Sin is very decent mix also that's new to these type of collections. The full 9.13 of Echo & The Bunnymen's Killing Moon is a belter too. There's still a few very strange additions in Peter Cetera's Glory of Love - no idea why this 'mix' seems worthy of a 12" collection. I scratch my head at why a song is placed on such collections when they are barely extended, mixed or relevant to what the collection is surely about.I've also got to give a nod to Yes' Owner Of A Lonely Heart "Extended Remix" - which is pretty much Trevor Horn mucking around with a few loops and buttons to bear little to the original! It's worth a listen, just don't expect your usual Extended Version. (Second only to Nik Kershaw's Dancing Girls for messing about for no apparent reason!) Mel & Kim's Respectable is much along the same lines, but works slightly better as it doesn't ramble on aimlessly as much!Still, an enjoyable collection for those that wish to collect 80's mixes.

Damn fine
As another review states, there are so many 80s compilations out there. This one stands out, however, and there a few tracks that the team at '12 inch dance' have been able to license that you'll be hard pushed to find elsewhere (The Smiths, Fleetwood Mac, Tina Turner, peter Cetera). The sound quality is excellent too. Incidently, Chris Rea is on the third CD, but is replaced with Go West on the download..due to licensing issues. If you buy the CD on amazon you in effect get the Go West free if you want to download the album to your pc :) Only mentioned that because a previous reviewer questioned it. I look forward to the next batch of releases from this lot because the previous '12 inch dance' compilations have proved mightily fine too.

you never have too many 12" singles
Great installment in a great series.I was looking forward to the 'Owner of a lonely Heart' mix, but it turned out to be a dud! I'm still glad to have it. So many others were great (3 CDs after all).As usual, there is a good mix of the very common and the more obscure. There is always a limit to how long these series can go on for; but I hope that there's plenty of treasure in the vaults for quite a few more installments...

Brilliant bargain 80s compilation
This is a great alternative to the endless re-hashed 80's compilations that tend to flood the market. Not only does this collection feature 30 great hits, the 12" versions are actually pretty damn good and not versions that are completely unrecognisable from the original song! (Although Mel and Kim's "Respectable" sounds suspiciously like "Showing Out" to me!).The sound quality on this CD is also worth a mention. Far too often, cheap compilations sound cheap. Not so on this CD. The sound quality is brilliant.Really pleased with this purchase....and I hope we see volume 2 soon.

Really good CD but I'd forgotten how long some of the 12" versions could be do some go on for quite a while. I'd still recommend this though for anyone who lived in record shops during the 80's

A good buy
Love having 12 inch single versions of these 80's songs on cd. Too many favorites to list but I am pleased to have "It's a sin" in its 12 inch version on a compilation like this.

A-HA TRACK DEFINATELY SHINES
Great compilation, buyers note: A-ha - The Sun Always Shines is the Extended VERSION (8'26) which is (in my opinion) actually the excellent and superior dance remix, as opposed to the standard Extended MIX (7'09") which is as stated, and is available on Classic Pop 12 Inch (Rhino).Worth buying just for this track alone.
