Good alternative to Google home or Mini, additionally get the IR feature with which we can control other non smart devices. Can pair this with other Google home to create a speaker group. This is a smart speaker which requires Wifi connectivity. This is not a bluetooth portable speaker which many PPL are getting confused for.

This speaker is based on Google Assistant which is itself a headache. I mean you'll have to repeat the same command for at least 3 times before it understands it. The speaker also overheats at the top. Sound quality is average. But the main functionality of this device which is the infrared controller, it miserably fails to pair with many devices such as my lloyd ac. Talking to the google assistant in this xiaomi speaker will make you feel tired in a few minutes. It acts like a dumb all the time.

I recently purchased Xiomi smart speaker with IR blaster and am thrilled with the performance, ease of use, and features. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a reliable product with great quality.

Mi Smart Speaker is one of the most affordable Google assistant in the market. Google Home configuration is fast and easy. Controlling IR devices is an added benefit but there are many difficulties in configuring the Mi Home app. As of now, very few branded devices can be controlled through IR. The speaker's sound quality is good. The microphone can be listened to from 10-15 ft.

PROS - Build quality is very good & sturdy. - 360° Sound is rich and good for a small room. - Base is quiet impressive for a 5watt speaker. - Google assistant is working good with its far field mic. - IR Blaster (IR remote function) is also working fine for my Samsung TV, Godrej AC, etc. - I also have tested stereo by combining two same model speakers through TWS, and sound was superb. - If I ask google to play song, it performs very well. - it supports google home but you need to configure devices in Xiaomi app if you want to use IR remote feature. CONS (All are for Bluetooth except last two) - My main moto to buy this speaker was to watch movies (by connecting with my MI 4K TV Box through Bluetooth) and it is working fine most of time. However, this speaker may lacks amplifier i.e. 5watt speaker is not capable of handling movies having low vocal/sound output and to hear the dialog, I need to keep it close to ear. I wish it could have at least 10watt speaker OR an amplifier which could boost the sound of the movies just like my old Samsung TV does OR Xiaomi could provide a software feature to boost the vocals/sound through pushing an OTA update. - Also when I connect this speaker with my MI 4K TV Box, the volume UP button on remote does not work properly - Nothing works, not even Bluetooth if it is not connected to internet. - Bluetooth allows only one device pairing at a time. If it is connected with TV, everytime you need to clear the list of paired device and then pair with new device which is very irritating (even through voice command) - Please note that when you connect any device through Bluetooth, the sound might play with lots of breaks in between but when you connect/disconnect with multiple devices it works (this is why I returned my first speaker and got a new having same problem but when I connected/disconnected with multiple devices (e.g. TV, phones, etc.) it started working.) - My MI 4K TV Box does not have IR remote receiver but I wish it could have control all the Xiaomi devices if it is connected in the same wifi network. - It should have a USB to play songs as you cannot ask google to play any specific songs unless you have a subscription of Youtube, Spotify, etc. Also whenever I ask google to play some music (randomly without subscription) I'm not sure why it always plays Bhojpuri songs.

Works more or the less as desired. Speaker sound is decent (more than Nest mini, slightly less than Mi smart speaker 1st gen). IR blaster is powerful enough, but lacks several brands (even though they're listed, they don't work) The work around for ACs is, set up the AC as a fan and then add custom remote control and learn the IR signals from original remote. Similarly for TV, add it as STB and add custom remote and learn the IR commands from original Remote.

Few things you should know: 1. This speaker requires a power connection, it is not battery powered. 2. The speaker setup requires the Google Home app and a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection. 3. Once you have setup the speaker in Google Home, from there you can activate pairing mode and connect to devices via Bluetooth. I would recommend doing this rather than using Google Cast, which can be quite unstable. 4. If you face connection issues with the speaker, it could be due to some router settings (like AP Isolation or disabled UPnP). Overall, I am satisfied with this product.

E-waste, I can't connect to its APP at all, and I have tried various operations. There is only a scrolling HELLO. I'm furious

Excelente bocina inteligente. Estoy bastante contento con ella. La calidad de sonido es un poco menor que Alexa, pero no por mucho. La bocina es responsiva y se integra muy bien con google home, no tengo problemas para controlar mis dispositivos inteligentes. Tiene buen nivel de volumen. Creo que es excelente para un cuarto. Second update: after figuring out the speaker, I bought a second, only to find that this one is totally defective (per some other reviewers, the app either could not detect the speaker (about 2/3 of the time) or couldn't connect if the speaker is somehow detected.) I am pretty sure this item is defective since the first speaker didn't give me any problem like this so returning this is an obvious decision. It does seem that defective items might be a bit more common than one'd like... Downgrading to 4 stars. Update: Changing from 3 to 5 stars. Finally figured out how to get bluetooth working with the device and the problem is all with the goofy way Google has implemented this, although Xiaomi could have helped with a better manual. So you do have the option of setting a device up for bluetooth via Google Home App, but (at least to me) the option is found at a rather improbable place. You click the device in the app, then the gear icon. You need to go to "Device features" and click "Audio." Then, at the bottom of the top section, You will find "Paired Bluetooth Devices" and that's where you set the device into the pairing mode. I guess this is sort of described on the Google help page, but I didn't think the steps were laid out clearly enough (I certainly didn't expect "Audio" to be under "Device Features" and that it would be where you need to get the device to enter pairing mode.) As a network speaker, this is pretty decent speaker that is fairly inexpensive. But if you want to use it as a bluetooth speaker, good luck. How to pair the device via bluetooth is totally incomprehensible. The manual refers to alleged functionality in Google Home that does not exist (it may have existed in the past, but if it did, it's not there any more. There seems to be nothing that would get the speaker to enter the pairing mode. The Mi Home app that is suggests installing does not seem to exist (any more), although Xiaomi Home does--but that adds no functionality to the device. Will update if I can figure out how this works via bluetooth.
