A great 3d film
A good 3d film definitely worth a watch if you like to get away from an ordinary 2d film

Review of the 4K Ultra HD edition
The 4k Ultra HD edition is a 2 disc set. First, you get the 4k version of the film (with no extras). And second, you get the standard Blu-ray version of the movie (which does features a few extras). My review will focus on the 4k version, although I'll start by providing an outline of the film itself.'Justice League' is the fifth instalment in the DC cinematic universe, and serves as a direct sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition 4K Ultra HD) [Includes Digital Download] [Blu-ray] [2016] [Region Free ], which in turn is a sequel to Man of Steel [Includes Digital Download] (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray) . In order to best understand the story, and follow what's going on, I recommend that you first watch these other two films. (This cinematic universe also consists of Wonder Woman [4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Download] [2017] [Region Free ] and Suicide Squad [4K Ultra HD Blu-ray] [Includes Digital Download] [Region Free ]).The story is about the formation of the Justice League, a team of superheroes who - until now - have largely operated singularly. A world-ending threat, posed by an ancient evil warrior named Steppenwolf, leads this otherwise disparate group of superheroes to join forces and save humankind. And so we get Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg working together. As a fan of both these individual superheroes and their team, the Justice League, I was eagerly awaiting the release of this film. It's a big-budget affair (one of the most expensive movies ever made), and promised a lot. The actual story, which serves as a foundation for the formation of the League, is quite good - and it builds on the events that take place in the previous films. Still, this isn't the best "origin" story, nor the most entertaining version of the League (in this regard, I prefer the animated universe: Justice League - Season 1 ).This film is directed by Zack Snyder (or at least it's credited as directed by him). Snyder's other films include WATCHMEN: ULTIMATE CUT and 300 [Blu-ray] [2007] [Region Free ]. He typically provides full-on (often gory) action sequences, interspliced with some serious (usually depressive) story-telling. If you're a fan of his style - which I am - then you'll likely have been enthusiastically waiting for this film. Unfortunately, Snyder was unable to complete this movie - and the final product was put together by a stand-in director (Joss Whedon). What we get is a mixed offering, with elements of Snyder's original vision (which was intended as a dark narrative) along with Whedon's lighter, more humorous bits and pieces. Personally, I'm not happy with the latter's contribution, and the end result is a little hollow. While Snyder's storytelling is certainly not for everyone, the fact is those of us who do appreciate his work find it to be stunning. But here it's been watered down, and become something far less memorable. Still, it's likely more appealing to children. The 4k version of the film offers stunning picture quality (indeed, the imagery is at times jaw-dropping), as well as awesome audio. Both the contrast and brightness are perfect, and the viewer is treated to a sensational display. There's a lot of colour in this film, and the ultra high definition provides for a rich and intense luminance. The features - from cityscape to faces - are crystal clear, and there's also a fantastic depth to the imagery. Although this film was mastered in 2k digital, and only later transferred into 4k, it's one of the best Ultra HD films available. At £20 (as I review), it's rather pricey. Especially as you don't even get the 3D version. But if you've the spare cash, and a 4k player, this movie provides for an enjoyable experience. As for the film itself, I'd likely award 3 stars. But in 4k the movie is elevated, and for this reason I've added another star. It's not a film I recommend for everyone. If you've enjoyed "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman" then you'll likely enjoy this one too. This is the weakest of the three - no doubt due to Snyder's lack of control over the final product. But it's still worth watching.

Mother is calling
Another superhero movie from Warner Brothers involving DC Comics characters. This one brings their premier superteam the Justice League to the big screen.Having seen 'Batman Vs Superman' and 'Wonder Woman' first of all will help you get into this, as it does follow on from the former. In a world without Superman, and impending attack from beyond the stars, Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince need all the help they can get in order to deal with the coming invaders. There are other super powered individuals out there. But will their greatest battle be with an alien army, or trying to come together as a team?...I've been reading DC Comics for decades. I've dreamed of seeing a Justice League movie for a long time. So I could write a lengthy spiel analysing and nitpicking this film to death. But instead, I will sum up my viewing experience of it in three words:I enjoyed it.Despite all the stories about reshoots and trying to find the right tone, it's a coherent narrative. You will only spot the joins if you go looking for them. The main plot is nothing special. Alien villain Steppenwolf is rendered via slightly ropey cgi. But the fun of the film is in the characters. Watching them come together, bicker and fight and learnt to work alongside each other is very entertaining, with a lot of fun moments.Ben Affleck does manage some nicely subtle moments of emotional reserve, and trying to get beyond those.Gal Gadot was brilliant in Wonder Woman. And is thus brilliant here again. Diana being very much the emotional soul of the line up.Jason Momoa has charisma and screen presence as Aquaman, and really comes over as an outsider. You don't get perhaps enough of his origin here, and the one Atlantis scene might confuse those who don't know their dc continuity But all that should be in his forthcoming solo movie, so looking forward to that.Ray Fisher delivers a subtly understated Cyborg, convincing as someone who is living on another level. But the star is Ezra Miller, brilliant and huge fun as the Flash, making him very much someone who is living a bit too fast.Superman? Spoilers. The running time of the movie works to it's advantage as well, as it's almost over before you know it, and that left me wanting more.It doesn't compare to Avengers Assemble, but no Superhero team movie probably ever will. But as a launch for this group, it's not bad at all.Do keep watching during the end credits for two more scenes, one early on. And one right at the end.The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English, Castilian Spanish.Subtitles: English, Castilian Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Norwegian, Swedish. It has the usual flyer with a code for downloading a copy of the film onto a digital device. The disc goes straight into the main menu when loaded, with no ads or trailers.Although there are clearly deleted scenes from this, I'm afraid all dvd owners get extras wise is one featurette: Road to justice. A thirteen min long feature with various comic creators and professionals looking at the various versions of the justice league from down the years, from comics to animation to big screen. It's a rush through the years, but it does have some interesting moments even if you do know all this stuff, particularly in writer Grant Morrison's explanations of his era, so it's worth a watch.
