easy to cut down to size
They do work at reducing the sound considerably, easy to cut down to size. Only negative is they don't always stay on the toms and can slip off when playing, easily fixed though with some tape. Overall pretty good

Expensive but Impressive.
SOUND REDUCTION/SOUND QUALITY: The real suprise for me came from the bass drum mute. After a pleasingly simple setting up, I was kicking away and I was really impressed with the reduction of sound from the bass drum. The sound of the bass is still clear and bassy and nice but just a lot quieter. I'd say there's hardly any loss of sound quality from the bass drum but plenty of loss of sound level, which is great! The toms and snare mutes did not reduce the sound level quite as much but still brought the whole kit down by a considerable degree. Not an amazing sound reduction with the toms/snare but enough for me. The sound of the snare is dampened by the pad but otherwise is pretty good and clear. The toms are dampened quite a lot but that's what you want when you're after sound reduction. What's good is that the tone and tuning of the toms still comes through. Aside from the great bass drum mute, I'd say the tom mutes are best thing about this set. Finally, the cymbal mutes are great sound reducers. They bring the sound right down, but at a great cost. There is no ring from the cymbals once they have the pads on. This is, of course, what you would expect but it can be weird getting used to a very dull and abrupt "clunk" from your cymbals. As such, the sound of the cymbals changes quite dramatically but there is really no way to reduce their sound without reducing the tone and the ring. So you have to live with that, and it's not too bad when you get used to it. FEEL: The response of these pads really impressed me. Of course, you don't get the exact same feel as with a real drumskin but that isn't a suprise. What's nice is that there isn't too much bounce, which is something I have experienced with some bottom end mute pads. I'd say this is the closest I've got to a drum-like feel from mute pads. The only times it feels even remotely different is on the cymbals (which is a problem no drum mutes can really get over) and when rolling or dribbling intricately (even then, the difference is negligible for me). OVERALL: For what, when you hold before you in your hands, is essentially a small collection of rubber and foam, the price seems quite steep. There's a few other drum mutes and many of them come in at almost half the price of the Evans SoundOff pack. That said, for a particular kind of buyer, I think the price is worth it here. If you live somewhere with a lot of neighbours and you tend to play a lot (maybe every day, maybe every two or three days) then these will really help reduce the sound. The feel of these pads and the quality makes them better than any other mutes or silencing pads I've come across. Definitely worth it if you need to reduce sound and you play often. If you don't play so often then I'd consider checking out some other options.

Garbage. Pads for the tom and snare are okay.
Barely had the set any time at all and the bass drum muffler fell to pieces, and that’s even with using felt heads. Had to glue-gun the patch onto the foam and it’s already coming away again with only a few hours practise on it. Also doesn’t fit properly onto the bass drum hoop, the right side constantly slips off, and I’m now worried it will damage the hoop if I tighten any further (my kit is a Japanese Starclassic, so a new hoop isn’t exactly cheap). I think the patch probably came away because of the beater making contact directly over the attachment bar; however in any other position it just slips! Also the claim on 95% noise reduction is utter rubbish. It doesn’t really remove the boom of the bass drum all that much, I think probably a 30% noise reduction at best, and that would be generous. Rest of the set seems fine; just pieces of rubber, but £50 for the bass drum muffler is a joke. Complete waste of money.

It does mute the drums, so it does what it's supposed to.
They appear to be just thin neoprene pads, nothing special. The kick drum muting frame works well enough, although the cymbal mutes are a bit 'agricultural'. A bit pricey for what they are, but all in all I don't think you can complain, as they do what they're supposed to ....as long as you expect non-pleasing-to-the-ear thuds and not your drum kit in all it's tonal glory but miraculously quieter. C'mon, you have to be realistic here. Great for practising without stirring up an angry neighbourhood. Which is what I got them for.

Did exactly what they claimed

Macht was sie sollen: dämpfen.

I have a vintage kit and 13 inch high hats, and these mutes fit everything. (Vintage drum heads are a wee bit larger than current standard) The hi hat mute is designed for standard 14 inch cymbals, but they work on my 13 inch set, they are staying on. I am not using the bass drum mute, it has brackets and a thick foam strike plate; I just don't think I need it. The ride cymbal mute lets you hit the actual metal cymbal and still mute the sound, which means the bounce is exactly what you'd get without the mute. Ditto the crash mute, and you can adjust how much sound you get to some degree. The drum head mutes are rubbery foam stuff about 1/8 - 1/4 inch thick, the bounce is more authentic (drum head like) than you get with a typical Remo practice pad, which is more bouncy than a drum head, in my opinion. Other interesting thing: You can hear the different pitches of the various toms even with the mutes, very nice. Overall I am so happy because I can practice a lot more.
