Meaningful debut; a true classic
90s/Early 00s were the best <3, "On the Radio" and "Powerless" are two of the most realest songs you will EVER hear.I remember when "I'm Like A Bird" came out and being sat in the car with my Dad while he was driving. I said to him "I reckon she'll go on to do really well" (I must have been about 10 at the time). He said to me: "Do you think?"Well Dad, 40 million worldwide records and several awards later, I think you have your answer

light,lively and beautifully sung
I listen to this cd when I want to hear something that's light, lively and beautifully sung.It has the added bonus of sounding original too.All the tracks are good.I don't know what style of music they representor where she gets her inspiration from but she sounds like someone having fun while she's singing.Great stuff.

One of the finest debut's I have come across. Fantastic!
I first heard Nelly Furtado on the Jonathan Ross show back in November 2000 and was really interested in hearing more. After getting the album on import from Amazon, I was far from disappointed. Whoa Nelly is one of the finest debut's I have come across. From the hypnotic 'Legend' to the Cuban swing and trip hop of 'Party', Nelly combines her many influences into an extremely interesting album. This is a singalong, dance to, chill-out, dissect the lyric adventure. It has it all. And if you've only heard and enjoyed the British single 'I'm Like a Bird' which is one of the weaker tracks on the album (if indeed there are any such tracks), then you are in for one hell of a nice surprise! Buy it, it's fab and she's gorgeous!

Nice one, Nelly
This is pop the way nature intended it - innocent, bright, breezy, catchy, listenable and fun. Much more imaginative than most of the overhyped, overproduced, over-intellectualised (see the 'official' review above), we-got-to-have-a-rapper-on-very-other-track mishmash that is dominating the charts. Nice one, Nelly.
