this model of pixstix is junk
it was junk, I had to send mine back for a replacement the first time and the 2nd one was junk too so I sent it back for a full refund and I've been using the brand name of pikstix since I became crippled in 2007 but even my best reacher fell apart in the same places just like they all do so I've bought over 25 of them in different lengths and I wrote the company who makes them and I complained to them so many times that they now ignor my emails or placed my email address in the junk mail status and they haven't written me back in over 5 years after they sent me one replacement reacher for free, and I've sent them pictures where the plastic breaks apart at the same exact places, and I'm an expert on plastics I use to be a setup man in a plastic factory in Alexandria Indiana for a lot of years, and believe it or not the pixstix reachers are the best ones out there and I wouldn't buy any other brand name I just wish that each one in any sizes would last more than one year before they start breaking apart in the same places starting with the black color place and the parts inside of it then the rubber comes separated from the plastic gripping arms and....ectif I could get the plastic factory that makes the plastic parts to call me on the phone I can suggest using a different type of plastic called polypolimer or homopolymer with a liquid black ink to turn the color from clear to satin black and I have a few more methods that they could try but like I said the pixstix customer service agents won't even read any of my emails anymore or I'd be glad to give them some expert opinion's for free or at least one free reacher with the new plastic that I told them to start using inside of the molds so I can test them out to see if they need to change over to a different type of plastic once again I don't want their money, I would just not have to buy them as much faster than I have been doing for the past 10 years

Genius idea, what a helpful tool!
I was a little nervous because of the reviews but I wanted the versatility for my father as he recovered from a surgery complications. From bed, to wheelchair then standing I didn’t want to have a bunch of stuff to use. While this isn’t quite long enough to use standing all the way vertical, with a little work it’s plenty.Ours came working perfect and hasn’t skipped a beat, it’s been used many times a day for months now and as he progresses it hasn’t ever really failed in any way. The only thing to remember is to tighten the length adjustment or it won’t work at all.Fantastic device that can change its size and grip to match changing conditions, truly amazing.

The non telescoping ones of this brand are GREAT
The collar that allows for tightening the telescoping part breaks wayyyy too easily. My 1st one came in broken, returned it for another that broke on the 2ns use, I fixed it with zip ties and duct tape, but of course the telescoping part doesn't work now. Dont waste your money. I love pik sticks amd have several---this is the only kind I have had an issue with, the telescoping one.

It broke in less than 2 months
Well, another useful item that turned into a pos. I liked this grabber- it was perfect for my needs. Now, after the return deadline has closed, the locking mechanism that allows you to lengthen or shorten the grabber has closed. So many grabbers that break if they're not one simple length. Can't anyone make one that lasts? Or is that the plan- sell more grabbers, make more money?

Does not pick up flat or small things. Holding jars is not in the cards
My old one worked better. This model which you can’t see in photo has a jut out piece on each side I presume for grasping but the opposite happens it prevent items from being picked up because the bottom pinchers can’t come together tightly.

Great Reacher!
I ordered this grabber because 3 years ago I needed a grabber at work to get my print outs (broke my kneecap and couldn't get to the printer). I was extremely pleased with it, I think it was the 48" grabber. My mother now needs a grabber for around the house. We have tried others but they just don't hold up. So I thought why not go back to the brand I like. I choose this one for her because she is 74 and in a wheel chair and needed a grabber she can handle. I liked that she will be able to adjust the length to fit her needs. I did open the box try it around my house. Just wanted to make sure that it was as good as mine. I picked straight pin up off the carpet, my cell phone, the tv remote, a glass, and a bottle of perfume. Had no problem with any of those objects. For proper use, you need to make sure that the adjustment screw or ring is tightened, if not the claw will not close completely and arm can slide out on you.UPDATE 07/31/13 - I just ordered another one of these. My mother loves it so much she wanted a second one. Being in a wheel chair she needs a good grabber to reach everything. My mother says she has even picked a penny up off the floor.

Don't buy this one
End grippers were faulty and cannot grip items securely. Have purchased many of these in many different sizes and this was first one to have that problem. Claims to be adjustable and that doesn't work well either. Just buy the size you need and forget trying to find one that "One size fits all".

answer to short people!
my 5' wife loves it and shes a professional shopper. she got tired of asking someone to reach stuff for her at grocery stores. She says its easy to carry as well it keeps out of the way for her.
