Excellent read
Book is filled with pictures from page to page. Very well written book covering the formations that Danish citizen served in. Another good portion is the individual Bios on some of the soldiers. Unit formation from activation and training to its destruction is covered in detail. Easy to read and follow along with maps and a large amount of pictures make this book a must.

Unseen phographs
The layout and information was positive to the unit purpose. Many time the units of the SS are presented in a negative light when in reality they were volunteers with a desire to join in the fight against communism. This book show the human side of the organization and the men who joined it.

Repetitive..
I already have the Norwegian Volunteers book, and this follows a similar presentation. I must say the pictures (while clear and acceptable) become a little boring after awhile, for the most part showing soldiers standing around, in training, and in little groups, doing nothing much. The combat pictures are few and not great. All this would be okay if we had a reasonable written history to go along with the illustrations, but this is sadly lacking.Unlike other books I have, I can't see myself pulling this and the Norwegian book out again and again...

Very well researched
Well written and researched, these men deserve to have their story told, too many today are quick to judge men who served in the german armed forces during the war, but what many forget is that these men had their own reasons to join and to fight for both their country and Germany and who are we to judge them. Enjoyed the book very much and has very good photos of the danish volunteers I have never seen before.
