Strike Igniter Red, One Size

Heavy duty. I expect this to last me 20 years at least. A must have for any hiking enthusiast. Trust me you will need this eventually. It could save your life. Pretty dramatic of me, huh?

Works great no complaints really, wish the magnet was a bit stronger but no big deal. It produces a nice hot spark made the kids learn to start a fire with it when we went camping this summer and it was fun to watch them learn.

The thing I love about the MSR Strike is that I don't have to worry about having enough lighters or matches in the back country... those are serving as backups to this as my primary ignitor and overall it works great. The design does feel just a bit off, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. You have to apply quite a bit of pressure and generally try multiple times to get an ignition, which is fine, but it's a bit clumsy to use especially when you're about to light your stove on fire. Maybe just increasing the grip ergonomics and size a bit would do the trick. That's probably my only grip though; a great tool.

I like the long tether between the striker and stick. Was a good addition to my kit.

It works. Wind, rain, snow and it sparks. This is my second "sparked" from MSR and it's a good product. Well made and effective.

It works but it does not put out spark as the Light My Fire. The striker is not as I expected to be sharp. It's an MSR brand, usually a great quality but this is a 3 star.

Design/Manufacturing issue with Strike Igniter. Seems to me that the striker on my strike igniter is not sharp enough to scrape the igniter effectively and make sparks. This is particularly true when the product is new and the rod has an oxide coating. The striker works for a few strikes if sharpened with a file, but quickly get dull and again fails. Striking the rod with a knife blade is much more effective. Seems like the striker isn't made of sufficiently hard metal. I wrote to MSR about this.

One of the best strikers I've ever used. I highly recommend it.

Bought to light my MSR Dragonfly stove, burning Petrol or Coleman Fuel. Needs a few strikes to get one to land in the right place to ignite the fuel, but the lighter itself works very well. Ive used it in windy and wet conditions with no bother, and the fact the striker and steel are attached makes losing them impossible! It now lives in the storage bag for the Dragonfly and I haven't used a lighter in ages!
