JEOutdoors Multifunction Pocket Knife & Tool Sharpener

This is the best pocket knife sharpener that I have used. I have tried numerous other models, but this gets closest to the plunge line, and does not leave very much unsharpened edge at all at the heel of the blade. This is an problem for many of these pocket sharpeners, several models of of which I bought before getting this one. I also like being able to dress the edge with the ceramic when the edge just needs touching up, without having to take away steel with the carbide if it’s not needed. They are small enough to be able to put in my pocket without hesitation if I anticipate a need for it during the day. I like them well enough that I have given them to my sons. At the bargain price ($5 these days), I have bought several for myself and scattered them in my shop, garage, and basement, among others. I have yet to have to turn the ceramic or carbide on any of them, but even that is a bonus option if they start to get worn. I am a skeptic, not easily impressed, and hardly ever give a 5 star review. These little things have earned it.

I used this to correct the edge on a brand new camping knife, had to remove a LOT of D2 steel! The carbide v-notch worked perfect and the ceramic helped a little bit. One of the screws came slightly loose after a lot of use, just tightened it up firmly and have had no problems since. Note to seller: a little bit of thread-locker on the screws would go a looong way.I also sharpened a horribly used thrift store kitchen knife that is bent silly. The back of that knife was probably sharper than whatever used to be the cutting edge (if it ever had one)! Again I removed a ton of steel and surprisingly the knife cuts well now...However, the v-notch system does have it's limits. Both knives are sharp enough for me, but they have created micro serrations and are not sharp enough to shave with. I would not use this sharpener on a nice ($$$) set of kitchen knives or an expensive folder that just needs a touch-up (better to us a block or stone IMHO), but if you actually USE your knives and need a working edge or need to fix an edge (ESPECIALLY in the field!)... This tool is for you!Bottom line: Has a SOLID handle and is a good first step in the sharpening process, worth every penny (I will definitely buy again)!! Use a stone afterwards if you want to shave with your knife, or be like Chuck Norris and just use your fists.

Ok, yes... it’s a great idea and designed well. But, it will never replace a couple of nice diamond hones. I experimented with a few styles of blades, and even tried a few different sharpening styles as presented on YouTube but I could never attain a “nice” edge that was sharp enough to be dependable. If worse came to worse it’s nice to have in a pinch but be warned it will ruin your nice diamond sharp edge. Maybe for a quickie on your pos Victronox it would work. But for gods sake do not use it on anything of value.

Best pocket sharpener PERIOD! A tad bit heavier than the Smith's but it puts THE sharpest edges on any blade , QUICK!

Simple portable nifty item. Used it for my kitchen knife and fruit knife. Works well. Only that, you need to follow the instructions on the direction of guiding the knives through the notches (one direction bottom-to-top strokes each time, not back-and-forth). That also means, the right hand holds the knife, while the left hand steadies the sharpener by the hole.

Excellent very simple and sturdy sharpener. I like the affixed chain which allows it to be attached to a point on a rucksack. For those who need to know, the metal sharpener part is meant for pre sharpening, and the ceramic part for fine honing (which is not really necessary for most blades).Dont be suckered into buying something that performs or lasts no better, but weighs 4 times as much and takes up more space.
