FINAL UPDATE: Threw it away. No amount of fiddling, driver updates, or continual reinstallation would keep this working for more than a week. Seller doesn't care. Do yourself a favor and find a different brand. UPDATE: I'm tired of this thing. It's back to not recognizing fingerprints, despite claims it is learning with every use. Original Review: I can't really recommend this fingerprint reader. I got this because the camera sign-in option on my laptop takes too long, especially in variations of lighting conditions. I had hoped this fingerprint reader would speed up windows logins and help me replace a lot of passwords. Though installation was relatively simple, and it works fine to do the initial registration for my fingers on my Windows 11 Pro laptop, it just stops recognizing fingerprints after a few days. And you only get a small number of attempts before windows requires you to use a PIN, which just defeats the purpose of buying this. At that time, I have to delete the fingerprint sign-in option and run it again (because you can't improve the training model with the same finger). I don't think this is an issue with my fingerprints, because I have no issue using the same fingers to unlock my phone many times a day. Also the seller claims you will be looking for the Elan Fingerprint reader under biometric devices, but that is not the case. In fact, when I hunted down the actual Elan fingerprint driver, it failed to load and reverted back to the windows default Microarray WDBI. I guess I'll keep looking for a better brand; this one just doesn't work reliably enough.

Love it! Note: On my Windows 11 HP laptop, I had to reboot the computer before it detected the device on the Windows setting finger print recognition. Before reboot, I could see the device displayed in device manager, but the finger print recognition settings did not detect it. Therefore I suspect the reboot requirement is a windows issue, and not an issue with the device. After reboot, everything worked as advertised. I recommend this purchase.

We are using this on a laptop. Because of this it is hard to position your finger to scan. You have to lift the laptop up. Just be aware of how you are going to use it.

Rather fast, works on Windows 10 and 11 by just plugging it and setting up your fingerprint. Windows Hello even lets me use the fingerprint to login to websites pretty cool very useful. I missed that from my laptop and now I have it on my desktop. Do get a cheap USB extension to have it at hand. Good size for a mid sized finger.

Better remember your pin or password, this one is truly a hit-or-miss. There appears some bug with this reader since when you try to login after a while, it most likely will NOT work. But after you login (not through fingerprint) and lock screen again, fingerprint login works almost all the time. Very weird. The USB device itself is well built not looking cheap.

I have a laptop with the fingerprint reader and find it very convenient to use for logging in to Windows 10. So, I set out looking for an easy solution to gain the same functionality on my desktop computer. I was skeptical that a $25 USB item would provide what I was looking for but figured it was worth a try. I received the TNP Nano USB Fingerprint Reader and plugged it into a USB port on the backside of my wired keyboard. Windows detected the device and the driver installed without any issue. Next, I went to the sign-in options in Windows 10 settings and set-up the fingerprint reader with ease. I have only been using the device for 1 week but have found it to work flawlessly several times per day and without any delay. I will be sure to update this review if extended use changes my opinion. I have heard some say the USB fingerprint reader is a security risk since it can simply be unplugged but I don't really understand their case. If the reader is unplugged, you will need to provide credentials for one of the other sign-in options on the computer.

doesnt do anything. no response from windows after installing driver. Win 11 no work. Win 10 no work either. Spent a few hours trying.

Czytnik używany jest do logowania w Windows 11, RoboForm i innych aplikacjach umożliwiających identyfikację za pomocą odcisku palca. Z pewnym oporem działa w funkcji Hello (trzeba kilka razy "popieścić" czytnik), natomiast inne logowania odbywają się błyskawicznie. jestem zadowolony

1. Problem Win 10 erkennt den sensor nicht. Nach bisschen googeln findet man schnell den passenden Treiber. Einrichtung geht fix und wer ein Smartphone mit Fingerabdruck entsperrt kennt das Prozedere beim einrichten. Das entsperren geht recht schnell aber ab und an ist der sensor ein bisschen kleinlich was die Position des Fingers angeht.

This device arrived on time and works perfectly. It was simple to set up (literally plug and play), works fab with Windows Hello and has never not read my fingerprint.
