KEEN Women's Targhee 2 Mid Height Waterproof Hiking Boots

Comfortable from the start
Not the most "sexy" looking boots, for sure, but definitely great for hiking the awesome national parks! When I first put them on, they seemed a little bulky. However, the "bulk" is what actually made them so comfortable. They have a bit wider toe box, which I like, but still fit my narrower ankles just fine. They required no break-in period. I used the insoles that came with the boots and they worked well, which is great for someone like me who has issues with plantar fasciitis and other foot pain. Though my feet were a bit "heavy" after 8+ hour hiking days, I had no pain. These boots also seem waterproof. Only time I felt actual water was after stepping in a creek that was deeper than expected and water went over the top of the boot (totally my fault). Otherwise, I walked through some pretty thick mud, moderate puddles, and shallow creek beds and they worked well. Good traction. Not sure how they'd do in deep snow, but I'm not sure these are made for that since they are only mid-height anyway? The rounded toe is pretty ugly, but I was quite thankful for the rubberized protection when walking over rocks and boulders. Definitely recommend these boots. You get what you pay for, and these are worth it. And these are true to size. I wear a size 11 ladies in both running shoes and tennis shoes, and I ordered a size 11 in these...perfect fit.

Comfortable right out of the box.
This is my second pair. My first pair lasted 8 years. You don’t have to break them in. They don’t squish your toes, plenty of room. Size was spot on. Lightweight and durable. I wear them about 11 hours a day.

Perfect!
This was the second pair I bought, after the first one was too large in size for me. But I already had these shoes for the past 5-6 years or more, and they are still good. I needed however another pair & they fit very well, are light and comfortable, and pretty. I hope they keep as warm in winter as the older pair.

Comfortable hiking boots
I bought these so I can start hiking. From the first time I put them on, I could tell they fit perfect! There was no need to get a 1/2 size bigger. I'm a 7.5w and I don't need an 8, like they suggest. Just a regular 7.5 was perfect! They're naturally wide boots, so there is enough room for my feet. I can't wait to get out hiking out in these!! I'll have to come back to update my review after I actually put some miles on them. But from first impressions, I already love them.

Great for hikers with bunions!
My favorite hobby is hiking, mostly off trail. Unfortunately I inherited my mother’s bunions which tend to make long hiking trips quite painful. After doing some research, this boot was recommended for those, like myself, whom suffer from hallux valgus. Right out of the box, the wide toe box that these Keen’s offer felt amazing. The boot is also fitted around the heel, which not only keeps my foot from sliding in the boot, but also provides stability. I’ve just returned from a 5 mile, off trail hike, which involved a lot of climbing, crawling, and side-hilling. With my previous boots, after about 2 1/2 miles, my bunion pain would become so severe that I’d have to call it quits. These Keens far exceeded my expectations. The waterproofing kept my feet nice and dry, even after spending time hopping around in a creek. My toes never felt pinched as they had plenty of wiggle room. I still developed some bunion pain on one foot, but that was the fault of the amount of side-hilling I did and not the fault on my shoe. Next hike. I plan to wrap my bunions to see if that doesn’t help with the side-hill pressure. I typically wear a 9 and I ordered a 9 1/2, which fits well with my thin hiking socks. However, I probably should have considered a size 10 to accommodate my thicker, wool hiking socks. All in all, I definitely recommend these boots from Keen.

Only KEEN will do
These are my first ever trekking/walking boots that I did NOT have to break in and I've been trekking for over 20 years and have worn my different types of walking boots. The Targhee 2 were good to go from the moment I put them on. The width is excellent for wide feet. These boots provide great support for low arches too. Also great for feet with bunions. Have suffered from plantar fascitis but Keen have always been such excellent shoes that I no longer have to worry about any of my feet problem and they are the ONLY shoe brand I actually wear. One size suggestion: You may have to order a larger size due to their fitting. I normally wear 9.5 US size, but in Keen, I've always have to order 10 US size.

Super
Nice platform/model and the colour is beautiful. This is the only pair of hiking shoes I would trust and go back to again and again.

Thick, comfortable soles and wide toe box.
These shoes are fantastic and comfortable. You can slip them on and not have to break them in at all before a hike. I love a good Keen and I'm happy to have found this shoe on sale.My two qualms with the shoes are as follows:1. The top clasps for the laces are made out of plastic, not metal. This just seems cheap and I'm sure they will be the first thing to go on the shoe. Columbia shoes use metal clasps but aren't nearly as comfortable on the sole as Keens, imo. But although the clasps are plastic, they initially hold the laces in place very well.2. The inner sole is made of some sort of poly-plastic and it's noticeable, as your sock does slip a bit on it. I wish it had a better texture and was less slippery/smooth --something for Keen to think about for their next design. I might spray it with a fixative to give it some texture.Anyhow, minus to the two points of possible improvement, I still highly recommend this shoe to anyone with shorter toes and a wider food box. I have osteoarthritis, morton's neuroma, and nerve damage in my toes. These shoes are so comfortable that walking doesn't bother my feet while wearing them. I can't recommend them enough. Would definitely buy them again.

Lieblingsschuhe beim wandern

I suffer from Planter Fasciitis and other foot aches and pains, at Christmas I spent over £100 on a well named pair of boots that had rave reviews but for my annoyingly sensitive feet I couldn't walk 1/4 of a mile without my feet killing me and going on a hike in them had me in tears. These Keen boots are such an amazing turn around. From new I did a 6 mile hike and it was like wearing my comfy trainers. Not one ache or pain and I was going up hill, down hill, climbing boulders and all sorts. They are absolutely brilliant and as long as the quality stays the same these will be the only boots I buy from here on out. Definitely worth the investment.
