Big Cat, Little Cat

A very soft introduction to the cycle of life, good for any child old enough to understand the words. It's vague, and leaves room for your audience to ask questions without being too forward. It doesn't address death directly, but it does address the idea that sometimes living things go away, and don't come back, and that's part of life. As a middle-aged man, I am not ashamed to say I have a soft spot for this book, in spite of, or perhaps even because it's so simple and earnest.

I love the simplicity and uniqueness of the story. I love how such a simple story tells a beautiful meaningful message regarding loss and moving forward regarding that pain. I shed tears reading this book and it might seem silly for a grown man to do so when it’s a kids book but that’s how meaningful it is!

The death of a pet is one of the most heartbreaking events in life. This book, in a remarkably simple and beautiful way, touches on the emotions we and our surviving pets feel after a loss. It is honest about loneliness and sadness, and it ends with a message of love and acceptance. As someone who has experienced this many times, I highly recommend for any one of any age.

I cry and laugh every gosh darned time I read this book! The cycle of life is poignantly told about 2 cats and how they were and lived and left to walk over that Rainbow Bridge. It is purrrrrfect for teaching little ones about how pets eventually leave for good and then that little lesson will eventually transmit over to people. Funny illustrations make me smile! It is so so so beautiful in its simplicity!

I like this book because the book repeats where the two cats meet. The best part is when the two cats go wild for five minutes. He he he.

This is the story of the cycle of life & death told in a very sweet & simple way with succinct words & wonderful black & white illustrations about a big cat who teaches a kitten how to live. When the kitten grows up, the two cats live happily until it’s time for the elder cat to go (pass on). The surviving cat then repeats the life cycle by raising kitten. Well done!

Absolutely beautiful book, I cry everytime we read it. I imagine this would be a great aide to talk about and explain to children losing a pet. But lovely all the same, would recommend from 2 up.

A favourite read in our house. A gentle book about change and dealing with loss.

Simple illustrations and also simple story...but what meaningful message of love and comprehension. It's a very sweet and balanced book. I loved it, my children loved it as well.

This book never fails to make me cry. 10/10
