Great to be back in the world of Mortal Engines!
I've been excited to read this ever since I heard there was going to be a new book and I have been lucky enough to read this slightly ahead of it's release. The main character, Tamzin has some echoes of Hester about her, but her background is a bit of a mystery which is intriguing. The use of the teacher Hilly Torpenhow as a means to exploring/explaining some of the places and historical events was well done and it was great to see new cities and locations which this book has in abundance.I can't speak too much about other elements I really liked without spoilers, but the book unfolds at a cracking pace and it also sets up potential sequels. I loved the villains and the revenants and where one particular branch of that goes I found particularly satisfying.Overall this fits really well into the Mortal Engines saga.I really do hope there is more of this series to come...

A Thunderous Return
It's been a long wait but worth it. Across all the Mortal Engines books Reeve has created a multi-layered post-Apocalyptic world. Here new characters fight a new battle against a new dictator. If I were to make any criticism it is that the characters of the hired thugs, Misters Lint and Coldharbour, are a little cliched - especially their dialogue. That aside, the imaginative sweep of this novel is breath-taking.

Another entertaining read but for a younger audience than the earlier books
I read the first two books as an adult having purchased the first book for our two sons when they were young. They enjoyed the book but not as much my wife and I did. They were too young to understand all the "false" history and archaeology references. Equally their knowledge of London was very limited and they couldn't appreciate the clever alternative geography of the floating city. With this fifth book, the history and geography references are very limited. Instead this is a simpler and more mainstream adventure for children albeit still in the dystopian future and fantasy genre.. There are still entertaining characters and interesting settings.Overall this is a book for the older age range of primary school children. Unlike the early books this is unlikely to be enjoyed by young adults (and parents!).I hope you found this review useful. If you have a question, I always try to respond when Amazon forwards them to me.

Excellent fantasy story
This is the latest book in a best selling fantasy series. I ordered this for my 11 year old and he’s really enjoying it so far. It’s also recently been produced as a film and has sold over half a million copies in the UK. A great fantasy story for older primary school aged children. Highly recommended.

This is a great story from a really under appreciated universe
This is a great story from a really under appreciated universe. My daughter loved the earlier book / movie and once she'd read this we re-watched it. She said the new story was really great fun and she loved the main character. Exciting and well imagined, this is a great addition to the series. Recommended!

Looks like a good read.
I got this for a younger family member and the hardest part about it is letting them read it first! It looks fascinating. The type and layout of the book is inviting and easy to read. It’s the last in the series and the first book was made into a film. It looks like it can be read as a standalone book. Can’t wait till they have read it and I can enjoy it too! The book seems to be all age suitable though listed as for young adults. The price is very reasonable for a substantial size paperback 400 pages . One that will definitely want you to read the rest of the books in the series.

Mortal Englines: Thunder City
Ordered this book for my 9 year old. So far, she seems to enjoy the book. She has no issues with the format, the readability for her age etc. She hasn't lost interest either which is a good sign. So, for now I'd say I would recommend it.

A brilliant fifth novel for Mortal Engines
This book is so well written, so well crafted and so imaginative that it was an absolute pleasure, experience and privilege to read it. I can only hope that Mr. Reeve is writing a sixth book in this series. Actually another 15 books would be quite okay. Please read this book because it will touch you. It is an amazing story.
