If the fridge was delivered upside down will it be ok and work or should we return it now?

MC Ronson is correct. The coolant and compressor oil need time to separate - 24 hours at least - with the fridge standing upright. Otherwise the oil will get stuck in coolant lines where it's not supposed to be and freeze solid, clogging the lines and breaking the fridge.

Can I put it on carpet?

Sure, look at the pictures next to the item. All family and the dog are sleeping soooo deep and refrigerator on the carpet.

I plan to use something like this strictly for drinks. For example, standard size water bottles and beer bottles. How many of these fit in this fridge

I removed one of the shelves and the crisper bin and this is what I have in mine: 12 long-necked bottles of beer + 12 cans of Pelligrino flavored water + 7 bottles of water (3 on the door) + 18 cans of soda (6 on the door). I still could fit a few more in if I really wanted to. If you drink beer from a can, you'll probably be able to fit another 3-6 cans in. If it weren't for the fact that I wanted a freezer for ice, I'd have gotten a straight up beer cooler - but I really like this product so far!
