Sturdy , well made design
I had seen some of these water feeders a few years ago and liked the idea of them so when I was offered the chance to review them I thought I would try them out.The idea is excellent and means that, with the use of the provided drill bit, you can turn a variety of containers into automatic water drinkers. Depending on what you use for the water storage you can have them permanently off the ground and the chickens soon get used to drinking from them without knocking them over or getting the water dirty.I would highly recommend these to anyone who keeps poultry as they are so versatile. the plastic is durable and if by any chance one gets damaged it can easily be replaced without it affecting the whole watering system.

Nice design, chickens like them!
Pack of 16 Automatic Chicken Drinkers with DrillCurrent Price - £16.99This multi pack of chicken drinkers, which work out at just over £1 per piece with an included drill bit, are designed to automatically re-fill with water based on a gravity feed system. Before setting up an entirely new system, I added one to an empty feed bucket to test. The drill bit included with the drinker cups has no brad point, and I found that it slid around on the surface of the plastic bucket. I will be sure to drill a pilot hole for each cup when I set up the full system so that I can accurately position the cups. When fitting the cups, bear in mind that you will need enough space to screw the plastic wing nut on to the back of the fitting, so don't position the drilled hole too near to the bottom of your container. The cup has a rubber washer and a plastic wing nut to fix and seal the cup to the surface you have drilled. Once the container / gravity system is filled with water, water begins to pour through the opening into the cup. As the cup fills, the weight of the water causes it to hinge down slightly until it reaches a position which shuts off the flow of water. As the hens drink, the water level in the cup reduces and the cup rises slightly, re-opening the pipe to allow fresh water to flow in until it reaches a set level and the weight of the water once again shuts off the flow. This mechanism worked very effectively once I worked out that no air can pass from the cup to the water container, so if the container is air-tight, a vacuum is created which prevents the cup from filling. Opening the lid of the bucket slightly allowed air to flow in and the cup filled correctly. The screw fitting and rubber washer allowed the cup to be fixed securely to the bucket and there are no signs of leaks or drips from the fitting point. All in, a very effective design, easy to fit and straightforward for the chickens to use.
