My search might as well be over
I am very careful about the supplements I put in my body. I want to find the most pure with appropriate affordability. I have found that Carlson is one of the best places to get some of the highest quality supplements. This product is actually regularly tested by the FDA, which is a bigger deal than it sounds because the supplement market is essentially unregulated, leading to potentially dangerous substances if you're not diligent in your research. This passes international standards of purity as well. Many fish oil pills out there aren't exactly honest about how much fish oil is actually in the pill and what the content of the fish oil is. With this you see exactly what the EPA and DHA content is relative to the amount of fish oil as well as where it was sourced. A personal benefit for me is that it's distributed in Illinois, USA, and I like supporting businesses inside our country. I don't really care about the flavor. I down the pills immediately. They are somewhat large, so it might be difficult for some people (it's difficult for my fiancee). It's not for me as every morning I down 11 pills of various medications and supplements at once, maybe I'm a freak. I take 2 pills per day, not because that's the recommended dose on the bottle, but because I've done some extensive research as to how much EPA and DHA is appropriate for my intended benefits and what scientific research suggests. There are a number of other supplements out there where I take well above bottle-dose due to this research. I highly recommend listening to podcasts, reading books or chapters in books, or online videos of credible scientists if you want to learn about what sort of benefits you will get and what that dose should be. For example, 70% of Americans are Vitamin D deficient, especially if you live up north. And Vit.D is 1/24th of your DNA. There are some serious life-long problems if you don't have an appropriate amount of Vit.D. It's not as simple as having it in a multi-vitamin and taking a simple pill. I make sure to have between 4-6 grams per day, depending on the season (which is already high, relatively speaking). I'm pretty active outdoors so I do get a good amount of sun but I am up north. And I also don't have an abnormal deficiency. You won't know what your body's Vit.D levels are without testing. You might need to take 10 grams a day if you're especially deficient and want to make sure you fall within the sweet zone of 40-60 ng/ml. All in all, this product from Carlson is fantastic and you can trust it to achieve your goals, but you need to figure out what those goals are first. Do some research and you'll reap the rewards.

An Accutane MUST HAVE
When my dermatologist asked me how I was handling the joint pain on my high (120mg/day) dose of isotretinoin my response was "uhh, joint pain? What joint pain?" and when he found out I was taking this fish oil he was pleasantly surprised and said that it was likely the reason I wasn't having any. This is the best quality fish oil on the market. This is it!

Taken For Depression
I will not go into every facet and detail of my mental and/or physical history here. The point is to review this product's effectiveness. The short version is that I have been diagnosed since childhood with different 'categories,' so to speak, of anxiety, and later with hormonal imbalances and depression in my adulthood. My doctor wrote up a prescription of Vascepa for me to help ease my depression, only for my local pharmacy to inform me that a) they do not carry Vascepa, b) that the cost was close to $400, and c) my insurance would not help cover it. Should be a no-brainer as to why I chose to start out taking these instead, to see if they might help. After even just a week, I started to notice an improvement in my moods and my ability to 'roll with' the bad days, especially during these highly stressful times. As a note, I am not extolling this to be some kind of miracle pill or a cure-all. I still have hard days, so I don't want someone to think this will magically make all of their problems go away. It takes a lot more than that to address serious anxiety and depression issues, and I also seek professional counseling and therapy. Still, I have felt a difference in my moods since taking this supplement, so every new or added strategy helps the bigger picture, I think. UPDATE: After taking these now for a month, I would like to up my rating from 4 to 5 stars. I have noticed a HUGE difference in my moods and my thought patterns. The 'bad days' of depression are so much more infrequent, and I am able to bounce back from them quicker. I notice that I tend to feel more peaceful and positive overall, and my family have also noticed a big difference. These have truly helped.

Pure fish oil
I am fussy with what brand of fish oils I buy because, I would defeat the healthy purpose of taking fish oil if its loaded with toxins. Carlson is one of my favorites and it is more affordable than my other favorite (Nordic Naturals). This is a high dose which I need. It also comes in a nice, large bottle which is important to me.

These capsules contain the highest quality and concentration of DHA and EPA fatty acids from Norwegian fish sources. They are IFOS certified, which guarantees their purity, and produced in an FDA regulated facility. They have no aftertaste, and the capsules don’t stick together as you get to the bottom third of the bottle, which I especially like!
