Those two words are misleading. It does not come with the actual hook to latch with and I suppose you could make it into a pillow, but the back and stuffing are not included either. My daughter was excited to learn about how to do it, but with no hook, she had to wait.The box contains the yarn, a pattern and a blank latch hook backing. The design is not on the "canvas", you have to count the squares from the pattern and then count on the canvas to see where you are. I was fairly disappointed. I did go back and read the entire description to see it is listed that it does not contain a hook or pillow making parts. Even with that being my mistake, I still only rate it 3 stars for there being no pattern printed on the canvass, you have to peel the label off the box without ripping it to get the pattern.

Hey everybody!! It is made in the USA!!! I had looked in tons of stores and when I asked about Latch hook kits people either remembered them fondly from their own childhood or had no clue what I was talking about. (There was an overpriced "Frozen" kit made in China at a local Fleet Farm Store.) Of course I found what I was looking for on Amazon.My grandchildren love learning something new and often ask me show them how to do something. There are many kits to choose from and boys can do it too. Businesses that produce USA products need to get this information printed in big letters on everything!!! It matters to more and more people who do not want something made in China.

Since this is for kids, it seems to me that the kit should either have the design on the fabric itself or at least provide a chart the right size to hold under the fabric for tracing. Not that a kid can't follow the kind of chart provided, but for a beginner who is already using a latch hook and mixing colors for the first time, it would be nice not to have to also constantly refer back and forth between the chart and the canvas. Just a thought.

i forgot this did not come with the latch hook. You can get a latch hook at walmart for $4. no biggie.My 7 year old is only mildly interested. I was trying to remember how old I was when i fell in love with this craft... maybe i was a year or 2 older. Will revisit in a week and get her started a bit more, so hopefully once she sees more progress, she will be inspired to keep working on it.

This is cute and easy to do - a great rug for beginners. My son wanted to make something personal for his nephew and this was the perfect thing for him. He was able to complete is quickly and the result looked good despite a couple of small mistakes. It was easy to make into a cute cushion. Highly Reccomend.

I received the latch hook kit, but there are no instructions included and there is no image printed on the canvas. It will be kind of hard to put this together without knowing how many pieces of yarn to use for each section.

I expected to receive a rug that had the design pre-printed but this one was not. It is a "counted latch hook" which really isn't good for the 8 year old I purchased it for. I ended up using a marker to mark each grid for her. I guess I expected too much for $9!
