Get the job done
Powerful drill and it's my favorite branding
I**?
The best, period.
I've worked in construction and Hollywood film production for the last twenty years. I've used and abused every brand of power tool there is. If you want the best cordless tools currently available on Earth, buy this DeWalt 20v kit. These are not tools for the weak, timid, or poor. These are powerful, top-dollar, high-quality professional pieces. If you have any doubt about your need for these tools or your ability to handle them, then please buy something lesser, which is to say, most anything else. You can hurt yourself in a hurry with these tools. The torque from either drill or impact is substantial; when you hit the trigger, the tool jumps, hard. When you let off the trigger, it stops _right now_ and bucks again. You smell ozone and see sparks. This is good. This is power. These are the first cordless tools I've ever owned that have not left me wishing for more power. Actually, I've had to learn respect for these little monsters. The word "weak" will never enter your mind when these are around, and you can easily break things and cause all sorts of damage if you're not careful; snap bolts, drive screws right through your workpiece... Much like a powerful car, these reward skill and punish error. You could probably break your wrist with the drill and a big wood bit, if you tried. But I like power and I don't mind danger. If you feel differently, maybe get something tamer. The chucks are great. The drill's keyless chuck is strong, positive, industrial, precise. I like how the shaft locks up so you can change bits without hitting the trigger, if you want. The impact driver chuck is excellent, requiring no fiddling to insert, and never jamming up on release like some other impacts I've dealt with. I guess DeWalt has a new impact with a different pushbutton chuckless setup; might check that out someday, but this one rocks for now. The battery life is so good, it's unbelievable. The charger is very quick and has a large LED to let you know what's up. Speaking of LED's, the impact has three and the drill has one, all very bright and helpful. I guess some guys don't like the bag. I'm happier with a bag than a hard case any day, but that's personal preference. Anyway, the bag looks built to last and holds the two guns, batteries, and charger comfortably with room for a bit more. The only drawback to these tools is price. They are more expensive than some others, but you get what you pay for in this case at least. For me, the awesome performance plus the anticipated longevity make these tools a great value. Plus, when you show up at a job everyone will be envious and asking to fondle or borrow them. Fondle yes, borrow, no! I don't know how they did it, but the box showed up almost before I got done ordering it. Beyond fast shipping.Highly and unconditionally recommended.

Excellent drill set
I just received this yesterday and have only drilled some test holes, and driven a few 3 1/2 deck screws. Normally I don't review things the day after I receive it, and don't even pay attention to reviews written right after purchase. But this different. First the price was great, nearly $80 less than the big box home improvement stores, and even less than a membership warehouse store. I do see the price has gone up since I purchased mine, but it still less than the big box stores.I had read that there are actually two types of this drill set, one the drill/driver are made off shore the other in the USA. For the price I was expecting the off shore model, as that is what I saw at the membership warehouse. No, opened it up and the box said made in the USA. Also I wasn't expecting the batteries that have the charge status indicator, but that is what I got. This set is replacing a Makita 18 volt LXT set in which one battery just died, after less than 2 years and probably no more than 200 charges. When I saw the price of new batteries, which are known to have problems, I decided to sell my Makita set and buy this set. So I do have something to compare the Dewalt set too.First the drill. The chuck on the Dewalt much better, no slippage, which has been a problem with the Makita from the beginning. I still have the Makita. So I drilled some test holes, using the same 1 inch auger bit, which has been abused, into a DF 2x4. The Dewalt would not drill in high speed, but easily did so in second gear. The Makita wouldn't drill in high either, and even felt more labored drilling in low than the Dewalt did in second. I could always feel the case on the Makita flex under load, I don't feel that on the Dewalt. As far as comfort in the hand and weight they are pretty equal. The impact driver with the Dewalt is faster and feels like it has more power. It is a little more compact than the Makita, which is always nice. I don't have time to see which can drive more screws on a single charge, from what I have read they are about equal.I haven't charged the batteries yet so I can't comment on how the charger works.I think this is going to be a great set, if I find otherwise I will come back and edit this. Right now I would say buy this over the Makita, and this is coming from someone who really liked the Makita set, and had recommended it to others.

Chuck wobble in the drill ruined the experience
I made the mistake of not opening the package for a long time. The drill has a terrible Chuck wobble which is now a well known problem with these drills produced around a few years ago. Contacted DeWalt and they plunged into deep silence on the mention of Chuck wobble, after an initial welcome response. Now I use the drill for rough work as a hammer drill to make small holes in concrete and masonry. For precision work I use my C$20 CT corded drill I bought from a local store earlier.Impact wrench work well on wood screws and small bolts. Don't expect it to open wheel nuts, axle nuts or exhaust flange bolts. Again for that I use a cheap but powerful corded CT impact wrench I bought from a local store. The batteries are good so far, without heavy use.

Worked great..
I have used these bout two months. Can't say much for hammer drill as I really never had much time with it... I did use it for small time on hammer drill into concrete floor. Worked great... The impactor is my go to drill. One thing i got my set during a cold snap n weather was -20 and battery full charge last about 4 to 5 hrs and also would not charge in cold weather... Since then with warm weather they last days n charge fast.Probably best set i ever had.

Impact driver is excellent! Hammer drill is alright.
I have to admit the batteries equipped with those drills last very long compared to other brands. The impact driver is superb. The light is very bright and illuminates the whole working area.As for the hammer drill, the light could be repositioned somewhere else where it would illuminate the working area. And as some others are experiencing, mine has a small wobbling effect which is frustrating when using long drill bits. I went to the store and the salesperson took out a brand new drill out of the box and did the same thing. If I wore to rate the hammer drill only, I would give it a 2 star considering the brand and price.

Dewalt Drill - Fun Facts
I basically ordered this kit because I recently bought a portable 20V Dewalt radio, but it didn't come with a battery and this kit came with 2 batteries, plus the cordless tools. So this combo was just brilliant for me! I've always just owned corded power tools, so this is basically my 1st cordless set ever, and this is my 1st Dewalt brand of tools ever also. For my 1st experience dealing with Dewalt...it truly has been amazing! I use to be a Black & Decker kind of guy, but I think I will be replacing them with Dewalt from now on. The quality is superior! They will last you your whole lifetime and your children's lifetime! So the investment on this kit is well worth it!

Stunning performance !
I bought this as a replacement for my older 14.4 volts drill (the price was at 267$ when I bought it) and wow, what a huge improvement... Both tools are very powerfull (believe me I used them in very demanding situations) and those 20v batteries can hold a very long time, much more than I ever expected. Speaking of batteries, the charge indicator on those is very useful when planning your work ahead. Also, those Dewalt Tools doesn't have any wobbling effect like the Milwaukee (18 volts) did when I tried them at a tool show.
