Don’t Cripple Your Pi 5 — This Is the Power Supply It Actually Needs
If you’re running a Raspberry Pi 5, a proper power supply isn’t an “accessory,” it’s part of the build—and this RasTech GaN PD 27W (5.1V / 5A) USB-C supply is exactly what the Pi 5 wants. The Pi 5 is fast, but it’s also picky about power. With underpowered chargers, you’ll get the classic symptoms: random instability, peripherals dropping, throttling, or the dreaded brownout behavior when you plug in devices or push the CPU. With this supply, the Pi behaves like it should—stable boot, stable load, and no surprise hiccups when you’re actually using it the way a Pi 5 is meant to be used. What I like most: Correct output for Pi 5: 5.1V / 5A means the board has the headroom it needs. USB-C PD + GaN: compact, efficient, and runs cooler than bulkier bricks. Real-world reliability: especially important if you’re using SSDs, HATs, USB gear, or anything that draws power during startup and heavy load. Bottom line: if you’ve already invested in a Pi 5, don’t kneecap it with a random phone charger. This is the kind of power supply that makes the whole setup feel “finished” and dependable—highly recommended for anyone who wants their Pi 5 to run at full performance without drama.

Works with the Pi 5
I bought this for use with the Raspberry Pi 5 8GB and it's been working well for the most part but I keep getting undervoltage messages with it. I moved it and plugged it into a UPS but it's still throwing the occasional error, however the Pi is still functioning so I suppose the supply is good, just a bit wonky. The cord is rather a bit shorter than I would like as I would like to be able to raise my standing desk to it's full height without working about pulling the Pi off or having to plug into an extension cord but for the price I can't complain.

Decent power supply for PI
Cool power supply for my 15.6 " external hdmi monitor; I may use for my other RPis instead and use regular power supplies to power my external monitor - we'll see.
