sticks to fabric very well
I used this to tape over fabric vents on my leather motorcycle jacket for winter riding. I'm actually very impressed with its adhesion to the fabric. Not peeling off after a couple of months and cold to warm to cold weather, and blocks the wind as I'd hoped!Made a big difference!****UPDATE ****5/13/14****It has come time to remove the tape and allow the vents to.... vent. The corners had peeled ever so little and I could see white residue glue so I knew this was going to be ugly. So I:1) I tried heating up the tape first before peeling, nope. Left residue.2) I tried cooling down the tape with ice to harden the glue before peeling, nope. Left residue.3) Pealed slowly. Left residue.4) Pealed it all off in a mad rush, left residue.Ok, now on to residue removal (remember, this is from fabric vents on a leather jacket):1) I tried the paper towel and towel with iron trick, it was 10% effective2) I tried the paper towel and iron with no towel, worked a bit better.3) I used GooGone and was amazed at how easily the residue came off rubbing with a towel. No indication there was any tape or residue. Spray, soak, rub, repeat using different sections of the towel.Good as new!

Function over form, it will most definitely keep out the elements.
Sticks like crazy, holds out the elements very well, also easy to tear and work with. There are only 2 main issues with this tape that I encountered, the main problem is that as soon as I closed my roof the tape basically wrinkles and looks very unattractive (while still holding out rain if applied properly), and the second problem I've had is that when the tape is moved off of its original location(IE ripping up 1 piece to set on a different length or width of tape) leaves a nasty white residue and with my black roof it just looks extra ugly(while still holding out the elements). So long story short is if you want to fix your roof buy a replacement, but until you can afford a replacement or if it's just a little tear and not your whole back window (especially if it's away from any folds where the roof colapses), then you can possibly get it to look good as well. But if you want to cover the rips in your roof to look better, my suggestion is buy the new canvas. This stuff is mainly function over form, i think it would need to be more rigid to be able to hold its form through, or at least left on long enough to completely dry before lowering your top. But again function over form, it WILL stop the rain though.

Buy it! Its sooooo gooood!
I can’t sing this products praises enough. Superb tape. I have used it to fix a convertible top and it sticks like crazy to fabric. Keeps water out, bends like regular tape, it’s perfect, Problem solved. I also have used it to stop a tear and real large hole and it is rock sold and flexible and makes the seat still usable. I also have used it to reinforce iPod charging cables at the ends and has held up solid for almost three years. Same with the convertible top. Same with the leather seat. Great product that continues to hold years and years later, unideal conditions.

Good, but expensive
I'm new to gaffer's tape. A lot of things I own are black and, as I refuse to throw things out as they become a bit flawed, I'm looking for something to help with repairs that isn't too unsightly. I ordered this product and a roll of 3M gaffer's tape (2" X 60 yards @ $38) to compare. (Note that 2" means 1-7/8" in actuality.) This product is almost exactly the same as the 3M tape. The only differences are that the UGlu may be the tiniest bit shinier (under close inspection with a magnifying glass); the UGlu distorts or stretches a bit more when you pull on it; and the price is different. I didn't try to tear the tape. I cut with scissors, so I can't compare that aspect. The UGlu costs $.66 per foot and the 3M costs $.21 per foot. Now, if you only need a small amount, it certainly may be a better choice to spend $8 instead of the $38, even with the "per foot" differential. I'm so happy to see the conspicuous conservation movement growing. It will soon become very chic to have patched and repaired clothing and possessions. At last, the end of ridiculous consumerism.

This tape is NOT waterproof
This product is advertised as waterproof, as stated on the packaging. Well the tape may be waterproof, but the adhesive is most definitely not waterproof. It started peeling after the very 1st 5 minutes of exposure to water. Thinking it was a fluke I ordered another roll. Nope that roll is junk too. Save your money and go with a different brand.

which I thought would be the perfect solution, same color
I followed the advice of some of the people here who had tears in their convertible rooftops and tried using this tape to cover them up. It did not work well.I had a GIANT tear all the way down my soft-top roof on my BMW Z3 and was previously holding it together with Gorilla Tape. The Gorilla Tape actually worked really well for almost 2 months before it started to fail. I then tried using this fabric tape, which I thought would be the perfect solution, same color, works on fabric, etc. It didn't last through the lightest sprinkle and had completely failed on me 30 minutes out from my home. Now here I am, SOAKED and miserable from the rain that had piled upon my roof before the tape fell apart and continued downpour through the now completely opened roof, cursing the makers of this tape and the people who claimed it worked great on their roof. This tape would probably work great for minor repairs, it DOES NOT work for a major slash in a soft-top after someone breaks into your vehicle to steal sentimentals and a car charger. My advice for those in my situation, with a completely slashed open roof from some under-bridge vagrant, SEW IT UP WITH 50lb FISHING LINE! It took almost 4 hours straight for me to do, but it's almost like new. Completely waterproof.
