A Hilarious Summer-y Vacation Mystery Thriller
Every Time I Go on Vacation, Someone Dies is a fast paced and hilarious mystery thriller that follows a fictional, bestselling author, Eleanor Dash, on her Italian book tour that turns into a real-life murder mystery, as her life starts to imitate the world in her books. It's full of humorous and quirky characters, a little romance, and a clever mystery set in picturesque Italy that takes readers behind the scenes into the crazy publishing world.Every character in this book is flawed in their own way that makes them all suspects in the brewing mystery. Eleanor Dash talks directly to the reader with a lot of footnotes, sometimes even breaking the fourth wall. There were several murder attempts in the book and a couple of actual murders as well. The mystery was also very well-plotted. The author served up plenty of twists and turns that kept both the characters and this reader misdirected.I think this was a great debut novel and I’m glad its adaptation rights have been picked up by Fox TV because it’ll be fun to see the beautiful summer-y vacation vibes of this book translate on screen.

When murder haunts a murder mystery Writer
The story of an author stuck with her Ex in a never-ending loop of writing book after book about the romance of the 2 of them in a murder mystery plot. But things have been dragged on far too long and she has finally decided to end the series, only someone might just beat her to it, by doing something in reality as she plots the next death in her book.Reading this book felt like a child in a huge fair, enamoured by all the insights it offers about the other end of the table. I enjoyed reading the glimpses of writing a book, editors pushing, marketing campaigns and tours and all they need to keep up with before the book is ever even introduced into the world for readers like us. The book was entertaining, light-hearted and witty throughout its storytelling. The inner monologues were surely a funny addition. As much as I loved hearing out the inner thoughts of the author's head, I wished the solving part and a few other details were left out to the reader's intelligence.Thank you @netgalley for the Audiobook Arc.Genre: #mystery #thriller ##murdermysteryRating: 3.5/5 ⭐️#EveryTimeIGoonVacationSomeoneDies

Super fun summer read
I bought this beaut of a book because of its fantastic cover and promising premise; it did not disappoint! Perfect start to summer reading! And the endpapers are fabulous as well! While my deck is not Rome, nor Sorrento, and definitely not the Amalfi Coast I felt as though I received an invitation to the "When In Rome 10th anniversary tour" and participated in this once-in-a-lifetime Italian vacation!"We head for the stairs. They're steep and twisty. At the top, I turn and look out at the view which is breathtaking. There are a lot of trees in Ravello, and the shade makes a huge difference in temperature. The water is blue and calm, the sky is clear, and even the tourists seem less frazzled than they did in the hustle of Amalfi."I admit the footnotes through me at first, but they're witty, help breakdown that 4th wall, drive home it is an author writing and solving this mystery. I wouldn't want them in every book I read, but it worked and moved this plot along.

Good holiday read
I always like a murder mystery and this was an enjoyable and fast paced read. I did find the footnotes a bit annoying but you get used to them as you go through the book. And I didn't completely guess the ending which was nice!

There is nothing I did not like about this book
This book has it all, humour, murder, romance, and footnotes. Yes, you read that correctly, footnotes. When I started the book I was like WHAT! footnotes in a mystery book, why? They play a role if only to throw the reader off the scent of the killer more than a normal mystery (or is that just me). Although there are certain words underlined in the footnotes that may or may not hold a secret, I am yet to work out if this is true or just another sly trick by the author to throw us, readers, off the scent by distraction. The protagonist is a chatty one, talking frequently to the reader, drawing them into the story to the point where she even pauses in the story to get us all caught up with what has happened so far and telling us it is now up to us to solve the mystery. I did not solve the mystery of who the killer was which is nothing new for me but I had so much fun trying to work it out. There is nothing I did not like about this book and I look forward to reading the next one in the series.

A funny and intriguing mystery
This is such a light and funny murder mystery. I have a slightly dark sense of humor and this is the most amusing book I've read in ages. I loved Eleanor Dash as a main character with her slightly introverted and awkward personality, perfect for an author who occasionally acts as an amateur sleuth. Her history with Connor added so much to their relationship dynamic and justified her reasons for hating him and wanting to kill him in her fictional Vacation Mysteries series. I also enjoyed Eleanor's relationship with her sister/assistant Harper. Also, the idea of a European book tour was so original combined with the fun history tidbits thrown in along the way. The narrator, Elizabeth Evans, did a fabulous job bringing the story to life. I'm so glad I also purchased a signed copy of the paperback to add to my shelf in anticipation of the next book in the series.
