Good Book- gives you a great overview of the city
I'm very pleased with this book. As someone who is a little OCD, I've been going through it and annotating it- I'm on my second read. I love the way it's organized. Since Berlin is a pretty compact city, it's nice the books is organized in to districts. We're staying in Mitte (the middle) so I started with that one. This book gives you great descriptions of the museums, layouts of the floor plans (very helpful) and it also suggests places to eat that are near. I Yelped several of the places (and found a few more that I'd already booked into, because I looked for the Yelp list of best restaurants in Berlin). I'd combine the recommendations in the book with Yelp- just to make sure you're not going to a tourist trap, or a place that isn't very good. A few of the recommendations in this book were clunkers, and a few were closed- so check before you go! You'll get a nice little history of many of the buildings and monuments in the books, and a nice pull out map. There are sections on where to stay (I did not need that- and my very nice hotel was not listed, so not sure about this section), where to eat, where to be entertained- etc. Some of the walks mentioned in the book seemed interesting. I might do a few of them. They seem like decent suggestions. All in all I am very glad I bought the book. It's given me a lot of useful information and allowed me to plan my days so I keep everything close together, and don't waste to much time walking to and fro- as I'd like to see as much as I can in the short amount of time I have in the city.

Beautiful, balanced guide to the extraordinary Prussian capital.
Europe's most fashionable, visually stunning, and culturally rich capital is brought to you here in this beautiful guide. While we all know that DK works hard to bring the visual material to the reader, this book is a balanced, practical travel guide as well. Where previous DK guides tended to subordinate practical travel matters such as listings of restaurants and hotels to cultural and historical sites, I'm happy to report that this guide addresses those shortcomings. Listings are excellent and right up to date. They have been selected for their quality and authenticity. The real substance of the book is the visual presentation of the city itself. The city is divided up into central and outer areas, then further split into regions within those respective districts. All the sites you would expect to find are here, displayed in vivid color photography or isometric imagery. Coverage of Berlin's diverse selection of museums is particularly good, and lovers of neo-classical architecture will love both the city AND the book. The coverage is absolutely exhaustive, and a thorough tour covering most of the sites in this book would take months. Berlin is a truly awesome city, ranking high among the most sophisticated, culturally and historically rich cities in the world. It deserves a guide this good, and you will do yourself a favor to plan your trip with it.

Survival Bible
After reading and examining the guide from cover to cover, I realized that it is a very informative and efficient little guide. There are a couple of points I would like to discuss. I will try to be as brief as possible.Granted, this guide has a lot of details and useful information. Perhaps, one of the best things about the guide is that it makes references to the main places in Berlin (e.g. Brandenburg Gate) by their German connotations and spellings. This, I personally think is useful, since once you are in Berlin, it would be easier to ask for directions and/or the specific cultural landmarks.Further, the pull-out map is simply AMAZING. It is not too big, but not too small, either. In fact, I find it to be the perfect side. So you get an idea, I was able to use Post-It's on the map for notation purposes and other uses. Also, since it is laminated, you can mark it with Sharpie. You can also use highlighter, but it fades away with use quicker (much more) than with a Sharpie. The reason I am giving this pocket guide a four is due to the fact that when making cross-references with online research (e.g. with hotels or restaurants), some of the places or names given in the guide were not completely accurate. In other words, when I tried looking for a restaurant or a hotel, I would have a hard time finding information of the same because they have different names. That, to me at least, is a disadvantage. Moreover, I wish the guide focused a bit more on solo-travelers. The way the guide is written, it seems as it was designed for family-traveling. In this sense, I wish it had more detail on traveling (via public transpiration). Don't get me wrong. The U- and S-Bahn map is useful (once you learn how to read it lol), but I wish it had more detail. Finally, although the guide has multiple pages dedicated solely to restaurants and bars, their descriptions seem to be rather short. They have a tiny paragraph for tens of restaurants. I wish that, instead, they had only a couple of hand-picked restaurants with full-blown menu and place description.Overall, I do think that this guide will definitely be my survival bible once I am at Berlin. Highly recommend it, though!

The Perfect Companion For An Excellent Trip
I have traveled to and have spent time in quite few cities in Europe over the years (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris, London, Oslo, Copenhagen, Brussels, Antwerp, Milan, Barcelona, Vienna, Brataslava, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Berlin and Prague). I have a good idea of what I want to see and the DK guides are the icing on the cake. They provide history and insight that allows me to enjoy the sights that I want to see but also to discover new places and things. They also provide information on things to avoid and to be cautious of as well as things like tipping guides and avoiding getting taken by taxis etc. These are great guides and I will continue to use them in my travels. I highly recommend them to anyone thinking of traveling in Europe. .

Berlin Guide
I always try to purchase these guides a couple of weeks or more before I visit a new city. Our coach trip to Berlin was a last minute booking, the guide arrived in 5 days (UK to Sweden), I received it the day before I travelled. As usual the guide was packed full of valuable information, clear sketches, pictures and maps.Nice to be able to plan our stay and roughly map out where we would like to go and more importantly, what we could manage to see in the short time we had. These guides are invaluable for this type of planning as they give you tips and ideas on how to use the public transport best.We really got the most out of our short (two day) stay in Berlin because of the clear maps and details regarding the more interesting sights.

Cada vez son mejores las top 10
En inglés actualizan cada año mientras que no hacen lo mismo en las ediciones patrias. En los últimos años imprimen el año en la pirtada para que no te cuelen una edición antigua

All you need to know a city
Above all I love to read about the city history before getting there and then have a selection of what really I should see. After that initial barrier I enjoy wondering around getting lost in its normal urban life. But at least I got a comprehensive guide on my backpack.
