SOFT COVER EDITION Review: Good book, but challenging as a first analysis course - I used this book as preparation for a graduate measure theory course, per the instructors recommendation. Based on my experiences, I would recommend this book to students trying to learn basic real analysis in the context of metric spaces. This book is well written, challenging and slightly terse. It is helpful to have some exposure to basic topology and real analysis in the context of R^n. However, this book is self contained and doesn't explicitly require any prerequisites other than proof writing abilities and the mathematical maturity to handle difficult material. If you are serious about being a mathematician, my recommendation is to work through this book on your own, outside of your normal coursework. Unless you go to a good school, this book will most likely be more difficult than the analysis you will see in a first analysis course. It is a challenging book and you will struggle. Review: The Analysis Book - This is the definitive book on Analysis. And it's available at a great price. Definitely not an easy read as other reviewers have noted, but if you can struggle through it, will be well worth the effort.

For $13, this is a no brainer!
There’s an argument to be made that it’s not the best introductory analysis text, but $13 for “baby rudin” paperback is such a wonderful deal. Having a text in the physical world, especially one of this quality, is wonderful. Perhaps for the parts where this book does not suffice, an online search will aid you, but still, this text for this price makes it an easy 5 stars.

Physically good, but content lacks examples
This book was required for a course of mine, so I guess the fact that it's in good physical condition (the paperback) is all I could hope for. However, I have to say that many of the concepts in this book are too abstract for me to even hope to understand. I've had to download the PDF version of another textbook and look up examples online for every single concept, and only then do I somewhat gain an understanding of the material. Just know what material you're getting yourself into is all.

THE STANDARD book on analysis for undergraguates
This book has long been THE STANDARD book on analysis for undergraduates. It still remains that way today. My undergraduate hardcover copy is battered, so I picked up this paperback to replace it. It is convenient to purchase this book at a low price as a paperback.

A tough but effective read
Rudin is always a tough read, but if you're planning to learn real analysis you better be up for the challenge. Don't expect to flip through this textbook. Each page is dense with info and requires a good deal of thought. If you make it through a chapter and truly understand what you read, you are a step closer to a fundamental understanding of analysis. In terms of the physical book, expect thin pages. As long as you're not extremely rough, I had no problems and the book held up well.

Classic book, difficult to read
Like the rest of Rudin's books, this is a classic, although difficult to read. You need to put in your time to thoroughly understand the material. But there really is no better book.

The reader really needs a a good grounding in sets
A tough read, but a classic. The reader really needs a a good grounding in calculus, sets, logic and a little topology. Not for the faint of heart.

Excellent introduction to Real analysis.
Most people use this book as a second book in Real analysis, but it actually can be used as a first book in Real analysis. To talk about Baby Rudin (that is how people fondly calls this book), this is a masterpiece and considered word-wide as the golden standard for analysis textbooks (or simply textbooks). But Baby Rudin might not be easy to read. The proofs are often very elegant and terse, i.e., often you get less motivation on various results in the textbook (adverse effects of elegant proofs) which might be the only problem anyone might say about this text book. My advice towards anyone going through the text book is the following: you shall require a lot of patience, for, often the proofs might seem incomplete and you should be able to fill the gaps (many people say that this is intentional), of course, you are not going to learn Mathematics without doing things on your own. Next thing is about exercises, try to do as much as you can. Typical exercises involve finding a counterexample for a statement, try out the proof of some theorem on a different track (the author leaves hints) and theorems or results not discussed in the text. I think that doing the exercises is as important (or even more important) as reading the theory. And finally to sum things, I have one relevant quote to anyone reading this book "pain is temporary, victory is forever".
