Christmas from the Heart of the Home

A little confused. I thought that when I was buying a book listed as “New” that it meant “brand new”. Not “like new”. I know the author to put out updated editions to get books and I am wondering if a book jacket from a different addition was placed on this book. The book itself is in perfect condition but the jacket does not fit the book, the gloss is worn off on most areas with scratch and indentation marks. The photo does not do it justice.

It came promptly in excellent condition, almost new. I am contented with the book.

I've just discovered Susan Branch and this book is lovely.

This is a must-have book for those who love Christmas, those who love Martha's Vineyard, as well as cooks at all levels. The recipes are great - easy to follow and to make, and consistenly excellent results. The Christmas Coffee Cake has become a tradition in our home for Christmas morning. The Coconut Shrimp is requested yearly as an appetizer for Christmas Dinner. Susan Branch shares her family's traditions with a warmth and generosity that is fun, enriching as well as soothing to the soul. Each page is framed with hand-drawn illustrations that are whimsical and lovely. Since this book is currently out of print, I have gotten used books in great condition for all 5 of my nieces this year. I have cherished this book for 21 years, ever since I received it as a gift from my very special sister-in-law, Cathy, who is a wonderful cook and even more wonderful person.

I bought five copies for gifts! And one for myself as well. It was like being eight years old again. Susan Branch is such a heartwarming storyteller. She puts the reader right in the middle of Christmas morning with her family.

This book condition was described as very good. IT WASN'T! The cover was quite worn and torn and had been taped on the backside. The fly page had been completely cut out. The overall condition was far from Very Good. Beware if you want a nice copy! The book itself of course is fabulous being from Susan Branch, I wish I had splurged on a new copy.

This book is so much fun, filled with delightful artwork, ideas and recipes for the Christmas season. I highly recommend it to any Susan Branch fan, or even to someone who has never bought any of her books. From stocking stuffer ideas, to Christmas quotes, to egg nog and turkey stuffing, it's sure to inspire and add to holiday festivities for everyone.

I recently bought this book second hand as it was first published in 1990. Its contents are timeless -- it's an enjoyable read even twenty-plus years later.Susan Branch's winsome art, the recipes she shares from her own kitchen, and the vignettes and stories of her heart-felt thoughts about Christmas make this a delightful addition to any holiday collection. I'm so glad I found it.If you love Susan's other work and you like all things Christmas, you'll enjoy this charming book.
