These are great.
Having no real skill of my own to speak of I picked up these and man... They are awesome. The ppl that make these do a great job making them and this particular set has become my favorite. I drop them alot ..cause I do things like that.. and they still seem right as rain. Would defiantly get another pair if I managed to break em.

Good, general purpose tongs for the casual blacksmith
This style is similar to other tongs on the market, and is a good general purpose set of tongs. If you only have one or two ways to hold hot metal on the anvil, this is would be a good choice. The finish seems to be handling the heat fine. Depending on your hand size and the gloves your wearing, you may have some trouble holding the round handles. I would purchase this model again.

Mostly good
They're sturdy, but it's difficult to get a strong grip on round stock smaller than 3/4". The ball ends come together too soon and leave you with pretty much zero spring tension to help hold. They do work nicely for larger round stock, and the grooves are great for flatstock, so they'll just serve a different purpose.

Good for square and not good for round stock
The boss is built sturdy. However if you grab round stock at 90 degrees, the stock will pivot because of the way mouth is made. If you use the groove running same direction as the jaws that will work for 1/4 and 3/8 round stock. The square stock seems to fit at 90 degrees. However I was hoping for 1/4 and 3/8 inch at 90 degrees so I have options if I made something larger on the ends and want to grab middle. I found the description and answers given to be misleading. I find little difference in sizing between the middle opening and the one near the rivet.
