IKEA KidTable, Table and 2 Chairs, White

Please read this Factual, non-subjective review. The price for this item is great. it came in a natural, un-stained wood. Wood quality is decent, definitely not the cheapest kind available. table top and chair seat material is NOT cardboard, although it may resemble it a bit. the material is some sort of peg board material. The table top is supported by slats making it sturdy enough for my kid to sit on. The chair seat is a different story, definitely not made for a plump kid or a kid to stand on it. That said ... This is what I did with my set after reading the reviews. I stained the table and chairs to match our existing furniture and I placed a decorative adhesive wrapping on the seat and top for looks and on the seat I screwd a small slat of wood in the middle of the seat. I invested aproximately an additional $5-10.00 and it looks great! (our opinion) PLUS I am able to sit on the chairs my self (200 lbs.)Definitely a great project for us, we were able to make it look the way we wanted it, would not recomend it for someone who wants durability without willing to put in some time making it better. Highly recommend it for thos Handy parents who want to customize it to fit their wants and needs.

Pros: Versatile use for coloring, playing, and snacking. Wooden boards under the table provide additional strength. Easy to assemble in under 30 minutes. Surprisingly larger than expected. Customizable and easy to paint or decorate. Affordable and competitive pricing.Cons: Initial doubts about durability due to lightweight material. Chairs could benefit from additional reinforcement. May not accommodate children beyond 3 1/2 years old. Minor cosmetic issues like dents upon arrival. Surface damage observed over time with extensive use.

After reading the reviews I was a little concerned and almost didn't purchase it. Some of the concerns were that you could walk into IKEA and purchase it cheaper (well, I don't live near an IKEA) so that wasn't really a problem, another concern was that it wouldn't hold up very well (I can safely say that my 4 year old daughter and 7 year old {he has non-verbal classic autism and is very rough on things} have been using it for several months and we haven't had a problem, my son has jumped on is, my daughter sits on the table...still good), the last big concern was that it "looked cheap or boring" (I saw that someone stained theirs a dark brown color and inspiration struck, we had tons of fun decorating ours)! If you're reading all the reviews and second guessing yourself, let me put your mind at ease;1.) If you live near an IKEA, buy it there. If not, maybe that's why you're here. BUY IT!2.) It holds up really well, my kids are tougher on things than most and they use it everyday, still looks brand new.3.) If you don't like the way it looks, spice it up, we painted on it with our hands and feet, then I sealed it so they could use it for all kinds of activities. We love it, and I get lots of compliments on it when people walk in the house.

This table is super cute, seems to be pretty sturdy and it's basically a blank canvas so put your imagination to the test! I bought this for my 18 month old daughter because she no longer likes sitting in her booster at our kitchen table.. She absolutely loves her new table! It was so easy and quick to put together. I have some exciting plans to decorate it for her! I'm always very cautious as to why I purchase online because what you see online isn't always quite what you get.. But before I made my purchase I went by the reviews and they were all mostly good. I'm glad I did! I would defiantly recommend this table to my family and friends with smaller kids.

LOVE this - it's perfect! Our tall two-year-old boy was always putting his cars and blocks on our good tables and they were starting to leave marks and dents in the wood. This table is the perfect size for him and I feel like it will be a good size for the next few years. Very easy to put together, too. I'm alone with my son most evenings because my husband works second shift, but I was still able to put this together (without my son getting too much in the way) on the living room floor in about 15 minutes. I am hoping to upholster the chairs for him soon!

August 2011:My daughter loves having her own little table & chairs set, she uses it for coloring, playing on her little 'laptop' & having snacks. I admit when I opened the box & began putting it together that I was not very optimistic at all about how this would hold up to a toddler; the white, cheap, board-type material arrived with a small crack in it already & seemed very flimsy. But the table has wooden boards placed underneath that give it some good strength, so I was much happier with that. I wish the chairs had the same kind of reinforcement in the seat, I think that I may have to rig them somehow in the future, or at the least take a bead of wood glue around the edges underneath. Its a pretty small set anyway and I can't see it fitting her much past 3 1/2 or so. Still after comparing prices on other kids tables so far I am very glad I purchased this set, you can't beat the price, so easy to put together, and I believe it will work fine for the few years we will have it around.**Update:March 2013: My 20 month old son has already stood on & put his foot through both chairs, had to have a friend place a wood board on both seats to fix it. Table top has also bee punched through and fixed with other materials. It has gained some character since we bought it, lets put it that way. :) Size-wise, my girl just turned 4 and still loves using this little table.
