In the Beginning: The Story of Creation

I LOVE the design of this book, the artwork is gorgeous! Such a good buy for the price too.

Beautiful artwork, ruined with unfactual wording. WAY too much artistic liberty was taken in the writing. It describes the creation of Adam and Eve as happening at the same time, by God blowing into dust. It says God named them both. It calls the forbidden fruit 'an apple', when the Bible does not name it, generalizes the punishment of Adam and Eve, neglects to mention the punishment of the serpent, and insinuates a claim that the Garden of Eden had a physical, iron gate, instead of being guarded by angels as the Bible describes. I got tired of explaining to my kids everywhere that this book was wrong and threw it away. Ridiculous. If you're going to tell a Bible story, please just follow the Bible. While I understand simplifying the wording for children, there is no need to add excessive dreamy details or take out key points of doctrine.

The book is beautifully written and illustrated. However, it is factually inaccurate! It claims that God created both Adam and Eve by blowing into dust-- anyone who had ever read the creation story knows that God created Adam this way first, but that he took a rib from Adam while he was sleeping and from that He created Eve. I think it's such a shame that it is so inaccurate because it is so beautifully done otherwise.

Beautiful artwork throughout makes this a pleasure to read. The book tells the day by day story of creation. Please note that it ends with the story of the serpent and the apple, and the departure of Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden. Please see my photo of the final spread. Though it's a darker ending as a result, the overall tone is one of hope.

Such ridiculous reviews on here worrying about silly details. It tells the story for children nicely (although slightly too wordy for my toddler) and beautiful pictures. And I love that it gives hope at the end of the world being made he beautiful place it was supposed to be again, as not everyone acknowledges the bibles message is all About the earth being restored along with the love for God.

Book was not quite in the pristine condition as stated and large sticker with very low price on the cover. I paid 4X that marked price so a little disappointed. But the book is a gift to someone who has been looking for it for some time. More cautious next time.
