You WILL need to have something ontop of the platform to keep it stable.
Its just due to leverage. It is a little topheavy if you extend it out as far as it will go. I actually have my tower computer on top of it so it keeps it from falling over. You will probably want to use a 1/4 camera adapter to use for cameras instead of the supplied magnetic platform. Or get a larger adapter that uses magnets that can work with magsafe cases. Not bad for the price. Its difficult to engineer a good platform for something like this due to the laws-o-physics.It works for me with my tower holding it down.

Handy stand for adding a person height webcam anywhere and any orientation.
I have this for couch jackbox games with friends. I can put the webcam closer for a better view angle. This lets you get it oriented in just the right way. You can put it under a desk too for a wide array of uses. The double parallel arm works great for ultimate control of webcam location and orientation. It’s strong enough for most webcams. I don’t know if many camcorders or DSLRs would work as it probably won’t hold the weight. The base is confident and sturdy. It has pads on the bottom to prevent scratching and keep it from wobbling. Comes with a magnet plate to be able to attach the sticky metal plate to your cam and easily remove and add a camera. Swivel is really nice and lets you adjust for any complex angle quickly.

Decent for the price, but not the most stable (see details). Conditionally Recommended
I have an unusual desk setup, with a 43" LG monitor, front and center. It's flanked by a pair of 32" monitors in portrait, leaving no natural place to put a webcam. I got the AceTaken MX Keylight/Webcam Floor Stand to allow me to pull down my webcam into the center of my workspace for meetings. At $38, it's important to have realistic expectations. Most of the AceTaken's construction is metal. While the build quality is fine, it's worth noting that the base plate isn't particularly stable. The footprint is oddly rectangular, which doesn't provide much lateral stability. The lack of mass in really any part of the product, and the omission of any isolation or dampening, means that it bounces a ton when bumped. That's not awesome. But again, the price..So, the AceTaken is working fine for me at the moment. I have a heavy UPS sitting on the base plate, so that helps. You may want to put a 20# weight on it. If you don't need a stabilized arm, this product may suit you, too. Overall, the price seems fair for what you get. Conditionally Recommended.
