Caring for Your Baby and Young Child, 8th Edition: Birth to Age 5

As a nurse and NP, I love books like this. I trust the AAP more than anyone else. This looks like a textbook, but it’s so easy to understand. The information is organized very well. I’ll open it and read a chapter a time depending on my baby’s age. Overall, I recommend it!

This is an very informative and well-organized book, which I'll be using as a useful reference for the next several years.

My doctor recommended this book to me because I'm a first time parent. It's easy to read and well organized. It provides comprehensive explanations of everything you might encounter when raising a child. Some people may want a more simplified or summarized guide, but I prefer to have content that is approved by the American Academy of Pediatrics. I'm very glad to have this book and plan to refer to it for many years to come.

This book is packed full of great information from pediatricians. My go-to book for reliable information. Has been extremely helpful with my newborn. Information is organized well by age, and the index is very detailed for looking up topics.

This book was recommended by an infant CPR class I took. It's American Academy of Pediatrics, which is what most child guidelines are based from so it is a credible book to get especially if you are a new mom like myself. I would just say if you've have already read another baby book like what to expect the first year then the stuff in this book can be redundant. However, I did find some new material that was not in the other book and it goes up to age 5, so you do not need to get a child care book every year. It has alot of helpful resources in it like growth percentile charts, which is what your pediatrician checks at each monthly visit, which I really liked. This is also the newest edition it came out October 2024.

Recommended to me by our doctor and gives you the knowledge to be able to self diagnose and when to take them to the doctor. Must have for survivalists and good parents.

There are many excellent books available regarding childcare. This book though has been my go to resource for reliable information on children for many years and is a gift I proudly give at all baby showers. ‘Was excited to see & purchase this newly printed 8th edition for my nephew & niece. Information comes from the American Academy of Pediatrics… can’t get much better than that! They also have a great book on Adolescents & Teens.
