Cable travels back to the recent past, hunting a mutant killer. In order to solve the mystery of the killer's plan, Cable must put together a new team of new New Mutants! COLLECTING: CABLE 150-154 Review: Great Cable Action - Awesome Cable story Review: I really enjoyed this book - I really enjoyed this book. The story is kind of inconsequential (Cable even says so), but it was still a fun run. The cast would make a great new X Force team with Shatterstar, Longshot, Blink, Armor and X-23. The only real downside for me is Doop - the stupid looking slimer guy who speaks in a gibberish alien language which gets old really fast. Also, I hate Blinks redesign which is just my opinion. But we see her classic AoA look on the cover which has been replaced with a horrendous "modern" look. Other than that, I'm really loving the direction of this book and hope sells pick up. Cable was a favorite of mine as a kid and I want to keep reading.

Hunting a 90's reference
As the cover for volume shows, this is a team book more than anything. Cable assembles a team of 90's references, and X-23 for some reason, to solve a time-crime involving a character from a 90's Gambit miniseries. It's all rather generic really. Cable shoots stuff with his future gun, shatter star and X-23 stab things with swords and claws. Other than a portal execution by Blink, all the rights are rather boring to be honest. This isn't helped by the art, which seems to want to homage all the rather bad art 90's comics were known for. All in all, this volume, while not offensive, was still unimpressive in all regards.

though I'm pretty sure he was impaled through the stomach and lived ...
I gave the first volume a 1 or 2 star review. The whole time cop thing is still silly, but this volume, completely unrelated to the first volume puts him in charge of current x-men and "lost" X-Men 13 years ago. Cable shines as team leader and the story line is okay, it revisits the old external storyline of x-force and builds It up some. It explicitly retcons cannonball so he's no longer an external, though I'm pretty sure he was impaled through the stomach and lived in the 90s so... A nice book overall, but I'm not sure where it's going since he built a team up... Then just left...

90s revival goodness
Brisson/Malin made the best Cable story in a awhile. Too bad it was short lived.
