Easy to implement! Love it!
At first I was a bit put off at the price, but after using this lovely set for several weeks, I see it is worth every penny! It is easy to implement and has a GREAT audio download (to insure correct pronunciation). The approach, style, and teaching method are well researched and carried out well. I was worried that the audio would be hard to hear or poor quality, but it is well done and the speaker is very clear. It is great quality! My children are picking up Chinese more quickly than before and they really love it! The text is colorful and the pictures are engaging, combine that with a great audio component, equals a perfect program. My only wish is there was a download audio option without the page turn "dings" (as older children/non-toddlers listening to it multiple times don't prefer the sharp sound). My techy husband took them out easily, but I'm sure other people would like that option too. My only request to the company is: MORE languages because it is such a GREAT teaching set!

Fantastic set of simplified character mandarin books
I was very pleased with this set of books. At first I was unsure if my 3 1/2 yo was going to like the black and white pictures but this and the 小熊 books are the ones they routinely ask for me to read and also are content to look through by themself. The images are black and white except for the item that that corresponds to the new vocabulary word on the page. For example, in the written sentence the characters for the word orange are written in orange font instead of black like the rest of the words and the oranges depicted in the image are colored orange while everything else remains black and white. The sentences are simple and repetitive, usually changing only one word on each page which is very helpful for teaching proper sentence structure.A recording of a native speaker reading each book is provided which I love. I wish that they alternated between a male and female reader for the recordings as most educational recorded resources for children that we’ve found are done by female speakers. They only real gripe I have with this set (which has been mentioned by others) is that in the recordings there is a chime that alerts you that the speaker is moving on to the next page. My toddler has taken this as a signal to turn the page, which it is, except it chimes each time they read a page even when you don’t actually need to physically turn the page yet. I wish they would read the consecutive pages and only use the chime when it’s time to physically turn the page. I’m sure my child will figure it out when they get older. All in all I am pleased with this set of books and I will be purchasing set two.

Great for Adult Learners
I am just starting out with Yoyo Chinese and bought these book prematurely as they are a little more advanced than where I am at. I am still working on tones and pronunciation of pinyin combos. Just as a reference, I am on Unit 4 which is a little more than a week in so take anything I say about the quality/accuracy of this book with a grain of salt.I have purchased many Scholastic Books for my little one and this reminds me of those but of a higher quality. They offer a slow reading online that you can visit after purchase and even download the audio to go should you want to practice offline. I can easily hear the tones because they read slowly but in a story mode slow. You wouldn't read so slowly that a 5 year old would yawn and fall asleep but you wouldn't read fast either. It's the perfect spot. The words are color coded to show you they are talking about a certain person or thing. The boy or the girl has a represented color so you know they are being discussed as my upload shows.I can see a beginner adult easily outgrowing this collection in a matter of a short time but this I feel is an easy stepping stone and was worth the Èrshíwǔ I spent for it.Disclaimer: I have no Chinese language experience so I cannot verify the book's accuracy. Just the presentation of it was better than Scholastic.

Clever Product
I really enjoy this set. The voices on the audio portion (easy to download) are lovely to listen to and the stories are great fun. My son and I will listen and follow along at night before going to bed. The introduction of new words in the context of familiar language is a great idea, but it's simply a pleasurable, quick read that helps both of us learn the language.

Simple
My kid is learning Mandarin in kindergarten. These books are good. I thought It had a cd for kids, but I guess I should have read more into it. Next year I will get the Spanish one for her.

Excellent for kids and beginners
Such a fun set of books for kids! My family and I are moving to China this year, and these books are a great introduction to basic vocabulary -and with the pinyin, even my kids can read them with some degree of confidence. These are a really good value for the money, especially since there are black-and-white PDF booklets on sale on Teachers Pay Teachers for a similar price. These are much better quality.

it is just acceptable as a native speaker
We are a native speaking Chinese / Cantonese family. First of all, some short sentences in the book does not seem natural. For example, People just do not say “男孩早” nor “女孩早” . I was struggling if i should teach my child those sentences .Second , the pictures are not too colorful and vivid like other children books. My 2 year old is not interested in the illustrations at all. And, I feel kind of confused if the book is set as a text book to teach chinese or a bridging reader because as a text book for those words it highlights, it is too difficult. As a bridging reader , the sentences are too strange (not a good material to teach certain sentencestructures) . I just cannot think of a good way to utilize the books. For learning Chinese , i would recommend Sagebook Hong Kong’s basic Chinese 500 for toddlers to begin. They can be purchased in US through some online Chinese bookstores. That set is widely being used by overseas parents.

Delgados pero funcionales
The media could not be loaded. Me gustaron porque tienen audio que puedes descargar fácilmente, tienen la escritura y dibujos, para niños es excelente ya que asocian una imagen con lo que escuchan, mi hijo de 5 ya se aprendió la mayoría del bocabulario de todos los libretos, son delgados pero bien hechos, comprare el volumen II, una buena inversión y al final viene traducción al inglés así que si sus hijos están aprendiendo chino están bastante bien, mi hijo es Mexicano pero se le está dando bastante bien aprender Chino.

Best books for 2nd Lang learners
Absolutely love these books. My 3.5 year old doesn’t like Chinese story books but with these he’ll ask for over and over.Short, simple stories with illustration he can relate to. Simple sentences with repetition makes learning a 2nd language that much easier. Hanyu pinyin and English translation (proper translation, not rubbish literal translation that makes zero sense) for adults who aren’t that fluent or confident speaking/reading Chinese.Very happy with this purchase

Expensive
Overpriced, low quality book, which is destroyed easily by the kids

Perfect beginner kid reading for foreigners
All what I imagined for my beginner kid needs to start reading. Pin Yin, characters and translation. Catchy stories, repetitive sentences. Perfect indeed. Need more of such books pleeease 🙏
