Easy to use, simple to read and provides quick results
Very simple to use and provides quick results. I purchased this to test soil on different parts of my small farm, so I could amend the soil as necessary for planting. I was so surprised how easy this was to use. I carried around some disposable plastic cups, added soil and a little water just to dampen and consolidate the soil, stuck the prongs in, and had readings within seconds. Then I simple rinsed the prongs off and went on to test the next samples. I even sometimes simply just stuck the prongs directly into the soil, which still gave me decent readings, but I do think it is better to dampen the soil in a cup or container, so you have the most accurate sampling. But, this is a great tool for gardeners or farmers. It is so easy to use and there are no batteries to worry about.

Did not work for me, the meter did not move.
Did not work, I followed the instructions to the letter. It asks you to mix dirt into a cup with water and then take the reading, and clean the probes with the pad that's included between uses. I did this from several areas in the yard. It never budged from 7. I even put it in vinegar after I did all that just to see. Nope, never moved from 7 (neutral). I left it for many minutes and walked away, just to make sure.I even put it into the ground (gently) around various parts of the yard, it did not budge from neutral.

Nice. Careful W/ Prongs Tho
Works good, prongs are always tough to keep nice so be careful when testing.I will say to everyone here that is growing outdoors to till and amend your starting soil with dolomite lime which will automatically make the soil PH come back to neutral. The cup testing method works to some degree but most of the time its best to till, soften ,and test directly in the ground. The use of distilled water is questionable considering it usually has a lower than neutral PH, using a neutral 7.0 batch of water will have less influence on soil PH after being saturated.Indoors:You need to take the PH from the soil your roots are sitting in, take a top soil reading and if possible a root level reading as well.Taking soil out of a grow container to do a test will not give you a correct root soil PH and disturb your root progression, best to soften the soil in the pot first w/ neutral filtered water and test directly in container .Great product for the price :) 4 Stars

Easy to use but it's about a pionts off if it's says 6.5 it's around a 5.5 ph if it says 7.5 it's at a 6.5 ph so it kinda works as a quicky for the price to get an idea but I still use my expensive ph tester for a more accurate reading

Great For Garden (and Pool)
Works great for me. I bought it to adjust the acidity of the soil in my raised garden beds since I add a lot of peat moss to my sand and clay coastal soil. The peat is highly acidic so the beds need lime to get them back to 6.5, which I consider optimal for the produce I am growing. The additional benefit is being able to adjust my pool pH. The 5-ways test kits are okay if you replace the kits annually but this meter lets me get the water completely neutral and comfortable for the grandchildren's eyes and skin (and us grandparents too).

I have three Soil Meters. But this is my most accurate one?

It works...but, not sensitive enough for accurate soil pH readings.
Ugh. Money wasted. Here's the thing...IT WORKS! It's just not sensitive enough. Following the directions, I measured some soil from my blueberry pots. The dial hardly moved into the acidic zone. I could see it move, but not very much. Then, as a test, I filled my soil test cup with pure vinegar and retested. The dial moved fairly quickly into the middle of the 6 zone. It should have been in the 4 or 3 zone due to the vinegar. This tells me that it works but is NOT sensitive enough to measure slight variations in soil. When you need a good measurement distinguishing between a 6 or a 5.5 you aren't going to get that with this device. I do not recommend that anyone buys this.

Total piece of junk but returning it for $20 isn’t worth my time and energy
Bought this metre to measure the pH of my garden soil. Does not work. The metre is always pegged at seven. I have another metre that I find hard to use because the probe is very wide and difficult to get into the soil but it works. I can compare the measurements of the environmental concepts metre to my old Metre so I know what the reading should be approximately. The environmental concepts metre doesn’t work at all period.

My plants look and grow better
I grow alot of different plants in my greenhouse which is an extension of the heated garage so it's somewhat heated in the winter. This has made a big difference in the plants since I can get the proper ph level correct for each different plant. It comes with a list of plants and the ph level that they should be at. It gives my plants a great head start for summer planting in the yard, and I can get the proper additives for the soil.
