Lifesaver
I was researching a refrigerated we food automatic feeder last month. I was getting a new cat and this product was only out for a week or so. I didn't buy one as all I could find was the ice pack ones and this but this item had mixed reviews. Everyone said the product was good but the app was lacking so I held off. A week ago I got my cat and again found myself on amazon looking for a solution for when I am out of the house overnight. I have family that can stop in but I really wanted to make sure my cat got fresh wet food everyday even if they were stuck and this does that for up to 3 feedings. He gets we food once a day so this would cover us for 3 days. I use it along with the Petlibro Air feeder for dry food. There is a 30. minute preparation time to get it to temperature that is more appealing to eat. This product keeps the food fresh and when it is time to serve it is just chilled, not cold. My cat doesn't seem to mind and in fact, seems to prefer how this food is served to warm wet food. It has opened every time on schedule and the food was at the right temp. The app was updated 2 days before I purchased mine so I can only speak to the recent app release. It is easy to program but one thing I noticed is the feature to label a meal wasn't clear at first. For me, the compartment that I put to be served first was not as when it activated at feeding time it rotated the tray but the app didn't reflect that. After the first time and realizing it I can adjust how I label food in the app, I figured it out quickly. It matters because I'm trying to figure out what food my cat likes. Each compartment had a different flavor that looks similar. It's hard to tell just looking at what is left over in the tray which flavor it is. Keeping track of which compartment was fed first was easy to figure out after the first day.The recent update allows for a feeding time of up to 4 hours. This is nice because it took him a little while to figure out that it wasn't available all day and now he eats it all within 2 hours so I've adjusted how long it stays open. It also has a sensor to show you on the app how many times your cat went to the feeder and for how long. that gave me an idea of when he was eating the bulk of the food so I could adjust when to set it to close to train him to eat it earlier in the feeding schedule. Even if you leave it for 4 hours, I have felt the food and it is still cool so I feel ok about it being open that long. One thing the app doesn't have for me but is supposed to is a feed now option. It is supposed to let you open it at any time, even during the 30 min preparation prior to feeding time. It takes 30 min to adjust to feeding temp but it would be nice to open it at anytime. As it stands, I have to schedule a feed 30 min from that moment if I need to feed him off schedule, not a deal breaker but hopefully with the next update that will show up for me.I took away one star simply for the app quirks but as far as reliability and function this product delivers. Definitely worth the investment for the convenience of keeping my cat on schedule.Update:I've had this for one year now. The app no longer has issues and it works reliably even when the power goes out. Also, you can now open it anytime with the app update. Could not be happier with this product. Added back the one star for improvements.

New feature updates!
5-17-24 This is an update to my original review. Petlibro just emailed me about these following changes which will make it almost perfect:With a simple app update, you can now: • Set a feeding duration between 1 minute and 4 hours (recommended duration is 1 hour or lessfor maximum freshness)• Automatically repeat a feeding schedule • Select "Feed Now" to open the lid while thefeeder is in preparing status5-7-24 This is the first wet food feeder of its kind, as I could not find any other. It works just as described if you only need it for three days, or three feedings within three days. I assume it's because everything I read says once wet food is opened, it should only be kept refrigerated for 3 to 4 days to keep it fresh and to keep it from spoiling. The feeder keeps the food nice and cold. So here's how it works. You fill three compartments with canned or wet food. The App gives you an option to set three feedings of three meals within three days. So you can set one meal for each consecutive day, or one meal one day and two meals the next day, etc.. The unit stops refrigerating 30 minutes before a meal is served. It does not heat up the food, it just stops refrigerating it so it will not be as cold when it's time to eat. The unit can be programmed on the app to leave the door open for your cat to eat, for up to one hour. Then the door closes again and the unit will be ready for the next feeding from the next tray. I assume they do this because the unit needs to be closed for it to continue to refrigerate. If the door stayed open any longer than one hour, it would be like leaving your refrigerator door open. For some cats, that might not be a long enough time for them to notice it's feeding time. One flaw I found, and I've already notified Petlibro and they are taking it under consideration, is it only has an audible sound that dings twice to let your cat know that it's time to eat. The door opens, and if your cat does not notice the dinging or correlate it with the door opening, it will open and close within an hour, and your cat will never know it was feeding time. I have solved this problem by placing my Petlibro Granary dry food feeder next to the wet food feeder, which feeds them at the same time. The Granary feeder has my voice calling them and they hear the dry food dropping into the stainless steel bowl, so they come running. They now can see that the wet food feeder door is open. I have now purchased a second Polar feeder, and what I plan to do, is program one for three days, leave the second feeder plugged in and chilling, and then program it remotely for three days following the first feeder, if that makes sense. So now I will have six days total. Having two will also work well if I want to feed my cats wet food twice a day, for three straight days. What the feeder will not do, is let you program for more than three days. So say if you want to program and skip a few days and then set a program for the fourth or fifth day, it will not let you do that. Again, I assume this is because once canned food is open, it should be consumed within three or four days according to most pet food manufactures. However, as I mentioned before, you can plug it in and I think it will stay refrigerated indefinitely as long as you don't program it. So with two feeders, theoretically you could feed for longer than three days, if you program it remotely. I suppose you do take a chance that the food will spoil just like human food would after four or five days. But I figure most canned foods probably have preservatives in them and that's probably not necessarily true. The good thing is, a cat has a good strong nose and they know not to eat spoiled food. At least I read that on the Internet L O L.
