The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using the LONGER Ray5 5W laser engraver for a weeks now, and it’s absolutely exceeded my expectations. Setup was straightforward thanks to the clear instructions and all the tools included in the package. Within no time, I was engraving like a pro!The engraving quality is top-notch—the 0.08mm laser spot delivers incredibly sharp and detailed results. I’ve tested it on wood, acrylic, leather, and even metal, and it performs beautifully across the board. The 400x400mm workspace is generous and perfect for a variety of projects, from small crafts to larger custom pieces.I love the versatility in connectivity—being able to work offline using the touch screen or TF card is super convenient. The machine connects easily via USB, Wi-Fi, and even through the mobile app. It works seamlessly with both LightBurn and LaserGRBL, giving me full control over my designs.The safety features are also a huge plus—motion detection, emergency stop, and the included goggles make the whole experience much safer and stress-free. The media could not be loaded. Ok, so most people write a review about the product and then babble on about the packaging and all sorts of other useless information. Here’s a review with some important information I wish someone would have told me when I bought it. So here we go:The laser itself works great. Assembly is easy. There’s plenty of YouTube videos that show step by step. It comes with all of the wrenches to assemble it. Watch the videos on YouTube, they’re invaluable.Here’s what I wish I knew….Yes, it will engrave metal/mild steel, BUT you have to purchase a laser ink to spray on it first because the laser alone does not leave the black marks on bare steel. It etches it and you can feel it and even see it if the lighting is right, but it’s shiny. The laser ink gets sprayed on first and then the laser etches the steel AND burns the ink into the metal at the same time. The ink is $50 a can plus tax and shipping. And I already know what you’re thinking but let me stop you now…no, spray paint doesn’t work. I tried it. So, if you’re looking to etch metal, this puppy will do it, but at a cost. They sell 2oz. cans of ink and 12oz. cans. The 2oz can is about $25 ish but if you’re doing much at all, that ain’t gonna last long. So know that going into it. If you’re etching wood, you’re good to go. No special equipment or anything is needed to do wood. Although, if you are doing wood, it’s highly recommended that you also get the air assist to help avoid any fires and keep the lens from getting smoked up. I also went and bought an inexpensive HP laptop for $399 to run Lightburn software. It has 8 gigs of RAM and that is more than enough to run the software.The other big thing that I wish I knew is that this particular version of the Longer laser products DOES NOT work with their mobile app. They do have a laser that is compatible with their app, but the Longer Ray5 is not yet compatible. So know that going in. I bought it thinking I could run it from my iPhone….nope. With all that being said, I don’t regret the purchase one bit, I just wish I knew it was going to cost me a laptop and a $50 spray can of ink. May the odds be ever in your favor!

The media could not be loaded. This engraver is perfect for starters like me. It’s a decent size and it’s simple and quick to assemble. I wish it came with risers but I think I can purchase those separately. It’s also carefully packaged as well. The machine is a nice matte black so it looks sleek and it’s easy to wipe off the dust and debris after each job. I had an issue with the alignment and balance of it so I reached out to Longer and man were they quick to help. The great customer service that comes with makes the price point worthy even more.

FINALLY!! This is the THIRD laser I’ve bought in 2 weeks and it actually connects to the computer and works fine with both laserGBRL and Lightburn. Etches/engraved steel and glass with no issue and very clean. The laser itself is definitely what it says and is quite powerful. It does a really nice, detailed engraving of photos too!I am an absolute beginner i.e (just taught myself to use lightburn like 2 days ago) and I was happy with the ease of use and assembly. Instructions are pretty ehh but whatever.. use your brain and you’ll be ok, hopefully.Cons:There are no physical limit switches so be careful and take your time to make sure you place your file correctly. Don’t trust lightburn to follow your input of the laser dimensions.Doesn’t come with a honeycomb panel so you’ll have to buy one or put down a piece of sheet metal like I did.Anyhow.. nice powerful laser for the money in my opinion!

Machine is fine - but not worth the DOUBLE I got charged for it. Neither Amazon nor Longer will admit to the theft - so I am left to make a dispute thru my bank and fight for my hard earned money. Because I was charged double they overdrafted my bank account. I was going to be buying a few more for our small business but I will just find another maker and will not use Amazon for that purchase. Decent machine if you want to risk the double charge. It's worth the one time, but certainly not worth DOUBLE.
