Delightful gift and received with delight. The crystal tree comes compressed in a box, so copper wire branches with attached colorful crystal "leaves" must be delicately separated and spread out to form the tree. Well worth the time. And FUN!

I debated a 4 or 5, but after you spend lots of time "unpackaging" it, yes it is beautiful. It is shipped in a skinny box. The tree is squished into a vertical state. So after taking off bubble wrap, etc, the fun starts. You carefully determine the major branches and separate them, which is pretty easy by color in my case. Then you start working all of the sub-branches of each color. That is time consuming, since you need to be careful. The stones are held on by thin copper wire that goes through a hole in it. I found one that looked like it might come loose, so I reinserted the wire in one side. This continues on and on, until all the stones are on their own, filling out the tree. I had zero issues with stability that some others mention. I could see an issue if you didn't evenly spread out the major branches, so the overall tree is filled out on every side. Definitely think the result is beautiful, which was all I wanted.

I purchased the amethyst tree as a gift for my boss, and I think she'll really like it. I was a little disappointed, but for the price I think it's probably to be expected. I can't imagine how long it takes to thread and wrap all those little chips on the wire, so I think the price is fair, I just wish the description was more accurate.Pros: good size and looks just like the picture. The wood base is sturdy and it is very pretty to look at, especially when placed near a light. Makes a good gift, especially for someone who isn't a gemstone/crystal afficianado and wouldn't really know the difference between fake or genuine crystals.Cons: my biggest gripe is that the copper wire isn't actually copper wire. It's silver-colored wire wrapped in a bright copper-colored material that reminds me of tinsel, like off a Christmas tree. Not a huge deal except that the copper part is coming undone at a lot of the ends where the wire was cut and threaded through the gem chips. I took a couple pictures to show what I mean. I trimmed off a few of the ends of the copper "wrapper" but couldn't do anything about the contrasting silver ends. Luckily you can't really tell from a distance and it probably just bothers me because I've dabbled with jewelry making and know that real copper wire doesn't do this. Also, I'm not 100% sure that the amethyst chips themselves are genuine. They look plenty real, but they feel like plastic when you tap your nail on them. But I'm not a gemologist or anything so I can't tell for sure.Overall, I think it's a pretty nice gift for the price, I just wish the description was a little more accurate.
